Grover vs. Mark Steyn - Grover 1, Steyn 0

Wow. Good call from Amanda Marcotte by referencing the Sesame Street children's book, "There Is a Monster at the End of This Book" as a metaphor for the War on Terror.
Marcotte notes Mark Steyn's new book, "America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It" is quite typical of the boogeyman in the closet syndrome the wingnuts love to throw at us. However, Steyn is particularly egregious when his book jacket suggests that the way to win the war on the "Islamofascists" before they take over America is to ameliorate religious diversity and make (white) Christian babies:

The future, as Steyn shows, belongs to the fecund and the confident. And the Islamists are both, while the West--wedded to a multiculturalism that undercuts its own confidence, a welfare state that nudges it toward sloth and self-indulgence, and a childlessness that consigns it to oblivion--is looking ever more like the ruins of a civilization.

Go to the link above to read more of Marcotte's opinion and here for Scott Lemieux's deconstruction of the book jacket.

It boggles the imagination that this sort of rhetoric is catching hold in this country. I recognize that the wingnut contingent is small and vocal, but the hubris of these end-of-world wackos truly appalls me.

figured out why they hate birth control and abortion.  Fear.  They have a fear that whites won't be able to keep the numbers up.  They are all so sick and I can't believe I didn't know this, it is obvious to me now.

  •  I thought you meant Grover Norquist. (0+ / 0-)

No - you meant the wonderful Grover from Sesame Street.  Too bad they have the same name.

Democrats, Make it Work. You have until November to bring your electorate in.
