In other news, Connecticut for Lieberman party insiders are questioning whether Joe Lieberman can win the party's nomination for senate. While internal polling shows Lieberman ahead when pitted against "Generic Bush-Kissing Asshole," "Any Other Moron" had a suprisingly strong showing, claiming 42% support. Long time party officials fear that if "Any Other Moron" is replaced on the ballot with an actual moron, Joementum will fail to live up to expectations.
Also in Connecticut politics, rumors abound that debt huckster Walter Lieberman will submit the required 7,500 signatures necessary to be placed on the ballot for US Senator from Connecticut. Walter, known about the state as being irresponsible with money, wants to be elected Connecticut's next senator, in order to enable the president to "piss away another $500,000,000,000 on an unwinnable occupation." If he has his way, his new party, Lieberman for Connecticut, may well share the November ballot with the Republican and Democratic nominees, and various other long-shot independent candidate wackos.
On a more serious note, may I say that I am so proud of my home state of Connecticut. Here's how our win is playing in the international press:
Who doesnt love Canadians? The Toronto Star leads with "Democrats turf Lieberman" Yeah.. in your face.
The BBC is measured with "Leading Democrat Loses Nomination" and follows with the prophetic "Shock loss shows US anti-war mood"
The New Zealand Herald has yet to update their story "Lieberman trails in Democratic race" but they are 7 hours behind. Or is that 17 hours ahead. Well.. either way, they are on the other side of the world, and the internet tubes can only go so far.
I spent a year studying at Trinity College in Dublin. Its always nice to see the Irish take on American politics. Never melodramatic, the Irish Examiner says, "Accusations fly as Lieberman faces political MELTDOWN.
And the International Herald Tribune, "U.S. Senator who supported Iraq war defeated in tight race"
