I Am No Longer Afraid

On this anniversary of 9/11 I am doing the following:
TURNED OFF THE TV
I need to move on.
PUT ON BEETHOVEN NINETH SYMPHONY
I need to immerse myself in the most holy, life affirming, and positive aspects of the human enterprise. I am no longer afraid.
SENT FLOWERS TO MY LOCAL FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENT
In remberence of those who died I need to show appreciation for these selfless public servants who get little real recogniton or support from our government leaders.
DONATED MONEY TO ACT BLUE.
If we don't win in November - All is lost.
PLEDGED MYSELF TO A SYSTEMATIC LETTER WRITING CAMPAIGN.
Through the resources I find in Kos and other blogs I am going to educate my self about as many of the close house and senate races as possible. I will begin a constant letter writing campaign in support of the Democratic candidates emphasizing that EVERY problem that we are experiencing in this country now from local all the way to the national level can be tied to the war in Iraq. My health care, my social security, my inability to pay for my childrens education, the dreadful decline in my public schools, the enormous debt that has been put on the books for my children, the loss of respect that my country has suffered in the world. The issue that we must focus on is George Bush's war, and the drooling idiots in congress that have been a rubber stamp for it. All made possible by fear. The letters that I am most focusing on are letters to Senators Gore, Feingold, Kerry, Edwards, Clinton, and Governor Dean. In these letters I will challenge these leaders of the Democratic Party and of the Progressive movement to "Go to the Mountain". By that I mean they should convey a private meeting perhaps including some other leaders in our movement, to out line a winning strategy for November. I humbly suggest that this strategy should emphasize absolute unity and agreement between themselves. It should emphsize that they are focusing on the Novemeber elections and have therefore temporarily suspended consideration of the 2008 election. This strategy should include a specific plan for the achevement of real goals. Most importantly it should focus on the most clearly identified issue of today, the Iraq war. I believe that every thing that is said between now and November should point to the lies, and failures of the Bush Administration, and the clear mishandeling of the terrorists threats. Can we not stop using Bush's "war on terroism" language? We must go on the offensive! We must stay focused. Remember it's the economy stupid. It's the war! Bush's War. The rubber-stamp Republican war. Finally can we not learn to fight to win? I remember a story about LBJ in his early career. He suggested that a story be circulated about his opponent that the man had sex with farm animals. His staff was horrified! We can't say that it's a lie. I know LBJ replied but let's make them deny it. That would not work today, but it makes a good point We have seldom been very good at offense. We can't win on defense. A solid unified thrust by the leaders of our party could put Bush and Rove, already in a precarious position, on the defense and completely overcome their campaing of fear. Bill Clinton says "that dog won't hunt one more time". I am not so sure. They are awfully good at it. They know how to devide us and lead us into lofty and arcane discussion. The issue is really very simple. IT'S THE WAR. Note also (well adentified in several recent post's here and elsewhere in the blogospher) the big fear trigger for the Republigans is impeachment. Can our leaders come up with a counter to this that the American people will buy? I think so. I truly believe that a high profile summit by these people will turn the tables. All the blathering MSM will eat it up. What are they up to? What will they say? Then the big prime time unfolding of our plan. Remember the Contract on America on the front steps of our Capitol. Pure PR Genius. Can we not be just as smart just as down to earth and just as focused? I hope so. All I have are my letters. For me --it's the war. AMERICA HATES THIS WAR! Can we not unite behind a plan to get us out of it? I am no longer afraid.
