WA-08: Rally for Darcy Burner incl 4 women US Senators

Fri Sep 15, 2006 at 12:12:56 PM PDT

There will be a rally for Darcy Burner on Saturday (tomorrow) at 12:15 p.m. at Bellevue High School.  Darcy is trying to unseat Republican incumbent Dave Reichert in Washington State's 8th District.  Please, if you have time, then come attend the rally.  There will be 4 special guests... Washington Senators Patti Murray and Maria Cantwell, and California Senators Diane Feinstein and Barbara Boxer.

Let me just add that Darcy will be an awesome representative in Congress.  She is bright, articulate, has a great resume and is a true progressive.  In 10 years she could very well be the brightest star in the House if she hasn't already been promoted to the Senate.  We need Darcy in the House of Representatives.  Come support her at this Saturday rally!

  •  I first saw her in action (0+ / 0-)

at the DNC meeting in Chicago a few weeks ago. She is amazingly impressive indeed.

Too bad her first ad was such a dud, because she certainly isn't.

I've already given to Darcy's campaign but not through the Act Blue site.  So I challenge people to pledge here and I'll match up to a collective $100.

  •  Ummm..."..promoted to the senate?" (0+ / 0-)

You're expecting Maria or Patty to lose or die?

    •  10 years is a long time in WA state politics (0+ / 0-)

It's hard to predict the future.  And as much as I admire Cantwell, she has already lost an election as an incumbent in Congress, so nothing's set in stone.

Burner, I can envision having a long career in politics.

      •  Well, OK...nothing's set in stone and (0+ / 0-)

it's hard to predict the future.  Who disagrees with that?  No one.

Yes, Maria lost her frosh House seat in the Gingrich revolution...so did Speaker Foley and a whole lot of other Democrats, you'll recall.  That election wasn't really about Maria and incumbents are historically most vulnerable in the election following their first term (barring scandal of one sort or another).

We shall see.  Only time and experience will tell.  Keep on keeping on and work hard for your candidates!  I hope like Hell that Burner wins but Reichert is a formidable candidate and opponent and it's an uphill battle.  Cross your fingers....

I'm a regional Democratic activist.  But I have received no email messages and no phone messages about this rally.  Nor do I find anything about it on Darcy's, Maria's, Patty's, or the state party's website.

Why is that, rustydude?  Who told you about it?  And why haven't they let anyone else know?

  •  Just called Darcy's campaign headquarters... (0+ / 0-)

There is a rally that Darcy will be at today - protesting Rove at 4pm at Bellevue Square in Bellevue.  No other details right now - may be in another diary on the site that I haven't seen.

The event tomorrow is actually for Democratic women (in general) and Cantwell, Boxer, Murray, et al, as well as Darcy Burner will be at it.  This event will be at Bellevue High School (on Bellevue way - Wolverine Drive I think) at 12:15pm tomorrow (Saturday, September 16).

I was called by someone from Darcy Burner's campaign to attend, and when I asked if I should invite others the person said the more the merrier.

      •  actually, I should have been clearer - (0+ / 0-)

Democratic women in politics are those who will be features - everyone of any gender is invited!  Apologies for a misleading sentence, there...;>)
