Sympathy for the Iranian young adults.

Tue Sep 19, 2006 at 10:57:34 AM PDT

I was listening to BBC radio's Newshour this morning, and there was an amazing interview with three young Iranians.  I'm not sure why, but it moved me beyond belief.  There's all this talk about "attack Iran" or "don't attack Iran",  but I sometimes forget that this situation goes beyond America's credibility in the rest of the world -- these are REAL people, who sound an awful lot like me.

The audio is available in Real streaming format only... so I created a quick movie for YouTube here.  It has the 7 minutes of audio, with some pictures of Tehran fading in and out.  Please listen/watch.

Sometimes it feels like writing letters/making calls to my elected officials isn't enough to protest this horrible path it seems we're going down once again.  I wish I could grab everyone by the shoulders and shout "wake up!".

because when MSM in the US shows Iran they always show the Mullahs, they rarely show the university students, the liberals or those who disagree with their government because of its autocracy. Unfortunately all the sabre rattling has allied many disparate groups because they ALL love thier country.

It is a problem when the MSM have no understanding of nuance and it especially troubling when Bush does his Rambo act.

if we attack Iran we will need sympathy for our young adults.  I pretty much predicted the outcome of the Iraq blunder before we even set foot in there, it didn't ake a genius to see civil war and Iran 2 being the outcome there.

If we attack Iran, oh my god, forget about it, we are screwed.  I could actually see a great depression here. I don't think people have any idea how badly Iran could destroy our economy by blocking up the straights over there, it would be a disaster.
Secondly on the military front, are we really gonna be able to open a second front? with what, the kiss army?
In the Iraq/Iran war, Iran used school aged girls to clear mine fields because girls as expendable, you really think we can fight a nation willing to go that dirty and ugly on the battlefield.

If we attack Iran, my prediction, one word  DISASTER

      Thanks in advance.

It's scary to see how even people against the coming war with Iran are buying into to all the anti-Iran propaganda.

        •  huh? (0+ / 0-)

huh? we are just as bad, as a nation we will not join the rest of the world and ban mines, 8,000 to 10,000 childrena re maimed or killed every year from left over mines.  In afghanistan there are approx 7 MILLION mines.

as for the Iran reference, it is a pretty widespread accusation dating back many years, well before any of this mid east crap.

          •  that's the problem... (0+ / 0-)

It's obvious that you have good intentions and you sincerely care about innocent lives, but repeating such accusations is counter productive.

Iran boasts and parades around 40,000! suicide bombers ready to strike.

The main force, named the Special Unit of Martyr Seekers in the Revolutionary Guards, was first seen last month when members marched in a military parade, dressed in olive-green uniforms with explosive packs around their waists and detonators held high.

Again, what is soo outrageous. Piont is again, are we ready to fight such an enemy?

          •  again (0+ / 0-)

people seem concerned with Thailand today, a country filled with fat foreigner child molesters since Thailand is known for its child sex industry.  30,000 kids starve to death each night in this world,  Is it so outrageous that a country uses kids to save its tanks?  We live in one fucked up world were kids unfortunately are expendable in the eyes of many.
