Dear Christian Conservatives,
I know you are all very angry right now. You should be. Your campaigning, your politicking, your money, your support got this president twice elected. He relied on you, made quiet promises, and you believed all of it.
So when it was finally jackpot time and two spots came up on the Supreme Court, he threw you to the lions. Instead of two true Christian Conservatives nominated to the Supreme Court, you got two question marks - two nominees clearly aimed at satisfying Bush's corporate ties. You need to recognize this, accept it, and get revenge.
This CEO president has always put business interests first. Tax cuts, the bankruptcy bill, packing the EPA with corporate lobbyists, Cheney's business ties, rebuilding schemes left and right (home and abroad, Katrina and Iraq). And not just him - the Republican party puts business first. Why do you think Delay keeps getting into ethics troubles over money, lobbyists, campaign donations? It's all about the benjamins.
And yet, come election time, they've always relied on you. You rally around them, and they drop sweet promises of a conservative social revolution. And you eat it up and break out your checkbook. But guess what?
They are embarrassed by you.
Again --- they are embarrassed by you.
Sure, the President probably, deep down, doesn't like homosexuals and their lifestyle (hate the sin, not the sinner and all that aside). But he doesn't have the spiritual, righteous, God-inspired hate of fags that you have. And sure he's pro-life, but not enough to really do anything about it.
And here's why --- you folks are in the minority. If the GOP truly bought into your revolution, they would lose. Big time. That's why it always seems like they're embarrassed to be seen with you on the national stage --- because you do embarrass them. They can't afford to please your 10% if it costs them the rest of their near 50%.
So they take your money, pat you on the back and promise moral reform of our country, then do exactly what's in big business's interests when it comes to running this country. Roberts and Miers should make that clear. Where are your true conservative nominees? Nowhere to be seen. If Bush brought out a favorite of yours, the country would react with revulsion (evil sinners that we all in the majority are). Instead, he brings out Question Mark Miers, tells you winkingly and vaguely in press conferences that she "shares" his views (and yet they've never discussed abortion), and hopes you'll go along like patsies.
Time to stand up for yourselves.
Time for revenge.
The GOP will never listen to you. Not really. They'll take your votes and your cash, but not your worldview.
You need to teach them a lesson.
It would only take one election. Break all support for the Republican party. Form the "Constitution Party" or the "Social Conservative Party" and throw up a Santorum-Coulter tandem for president in 2008.
Two things will happen: the Democrats will win, and the GOP will come crawling back. They will slink back and make huge promises, promises they know they will have to keep next time. Sure, they can support big business as always, but this time you'll get your fag-hating, abortion-ending, originalist thinkers into any open spots (Supreme Court and the lower courts).
Think about it --- fuck 'em once, and they're yours forever.
