The House Races that Need Money (Small list)

Thu Sep 21, 2006 at 08:30:11 PM PDT

These are Three Races that CQPolitics has listed as LEANS REPUBLICAN where the Democrats could really use some funds. In CT-05 Heavy Incumbant Nancy Johnson has the largest money lead in the competitive CT races. In OH-15 Deborah Pryce holds a 2-1 money lead over Mary Jo Kilroy. In PA-10 Don Sherewood also holds a 2-1 Money lead over Chris Carney. For exact money figures about the races click here
In the First race we have CT-05 Rep Nancy Johnson vs. Christopher Murphy. I have previously blogged about this race and consider it to be my key race this year. This is because during the 2004 election cycle my grandparrents invited me to a fundraser for Rep Johnson at their house. I was never so appalled in my life. At the time I was 14 years old and was perhaps the only person other then my Grandparrents and my Mom to consider themselves Democrats. Her press advisor and I were in a discussion about something and Iraq comes up. I say that Iraq was a mistake and she pulls out the old "Iraq attacked us" excuse for the invasion. The only reply I know at the time is "Iraq did not attack us, al-Qaida atacked us." She does not  have a responce and is quick to change the subject. (Sorry for that tangent)

Anyway back on topic, Johnson was targeted by Moveon.org's red handed ads. . This might be the year to take her down. She has a 2-1 money lead, the most of any Non-Democratic Incumbent in CT. Christopher Murphy, the Chalenger is a rising star and her strongest non-incumbent opponent yet. (Johnson faced Congressmen Maloney in 2002 when their districts were merged) He is a CT State Senator and could use our help lets make CT a True Blue state. To donate to the Murphy Campaign click here

OH-15 Rep Pryce is the Number 4 Republican in the House and would be a big win for the Democrats should we pull this one off. She was also targeted by Moveon.org's Red handed campaign. Her opponent is Mary Jo Kilroy, Franklin County Commissioner. To donate to the Pryce Campaign click here

PA-10 Rep Don Sherwood is week after a primary where he receaved a mere 56% of the vote after his spent less then 5,000$. He had an affair with a women for five years and is getting the politcal fallout from it now. His opponent is a Fighting Dem Chris Carney. He was a Senoir Terrorism and Intelligence Advisor at the Pentagon. To contribute to the Carney Campaign click here

  •  Coleen Rowley (6+ / 0-)

is in the same position.  Last poll has her only 3 points down.  And our independents are looking for an alternative to the incumbent.

    •  Coleen Rowley Minnesota-2 is RETIRED F.B.I. (0+ / 0-)

Time was that law enforcement professionals avoided the Emocratic Party. Reason was that big city political machines were connected to (and frequently intermarried with) organized crime.

Coleen Rowley coming to the Democratic Party is a reversal of that history.

She was the special Agent who fought to get into Moussaoui's laptop and heead off 9/11. She took risks contacting the C.I.A. with info that suicide-hijacking was a live threat to American commercial aviation.

She has strong support from 9/11 survivors:

      911 Survivors For Rowley

After 9/11 this woman wrote a paper for Director Mueller that was leveraged to get the new Office of Intelligence. That is now America's Scotland Yard.

We all owe this gal. Please, send what you can afford.

After the November elections, it would be of great value to build a non-partisan team up on The Hill  led by Rowley and Grassley. They are the very opposites to the Dumbfuck Administration.

Kilroy has Pryce running scared, and a little more cash could really help.

And next Thursday, Bush will be in Columbus, OH, raising $$$ for his #4 flying monkey, THE SAME NIGHT I am co-sponosoring a friendly neighborhood fundraiser for Kilroy.

What a contrast!  I wrote a diary on it, including info on how to donate to our fundraiser.

The First one Johnson, i chose because it is a very close race to me, three of my grandparents live in the district and It is very close to NYC
The secont one Pryce is based on her high level in the house. She is also mentioned in the Red Handed campaign , and Kilroy to me is a strong contender
The last one, Sherwood is for pure hypocracy. The GOP claims the moral highground with people like him within the party. No way.

...is a good consideration. Pryce has MUCH more moola, but Kilroy is really scaring her in the polls, and the more $$$ we force them to poor into the Pryce race they less they have to cause mischief elsewhere.

Also, as a veteran, I am especially P.O.'s at Pryce. She runs commercials here about how much she supports veterans, yet the Disabled American Veterans give her a score of only 13%. Would the NRA support someone with a 13% guns voting scorecard?

And Pryce has a low score even for Repubublicans. Check out the full list of scores:Senator's or Representatives's

Sue Kelly has a huge $$$$ advantage over John Hall. This race is competitive, but Hall needs to go on an ad blitz in order to introduce himself to the voters and get the truth out about Kelly.

    •  Did you guys ever find Sue's Purple Heart (0+ / 0-)

Bandaid comment on CNN.  It happened during the Dem Convention.  When she made it I was on the phone to a Purple Heart Recipient who was also watching the convention.  He went ballastic, had me find out who she was, yada, yada.

        What exactly did she say?

Sorry - with all the yelling on the other end of the line, I missed a lot of it.

The Kiss float was a great idea.  Now, take, twist it, and make it your own.

But, Time to bring it to her:  You make a float with one gigantic bandaid with a purple heart - about 12' long trucked through every shopping center in your distict.

BTW: even if you can't find the orginal quote, play by Rove's rules and charge her with dissing Veterans. The apolitical Disabled Ameican Veterans Association will weigh in on support for that.

    •  NY-19: 49%-44%, Kelly vs. Hall; 4:1 $$$ (1+ / 0-)

If Hall doesn't raise a cent between Primary and Election Day, the same scenario (approx. 4:1 or 5:1) would occur. Donate at: http://www.johnhallforcongress.com. Internal poll (first since the Primary), released today, by independent polling firm Abacus, of MA, has race almost dead even. Kelly 49%, Hall 44% (MOE +/-4%). There was a record turnout of Dems, 100%+ over 2004 primary, last week in NY-19. This was much more than any other CD in NY state.

For context, Kelly spent approx. $1.2mm in 2004 against a challenger who barely spent ANYTHING, $60,000 (20:1); and she only captured 66% of the vote. Also, two or three DEM House challengers in NY, widely considered (by all those folks that rank these races) to have lesser chances than Hall of winning have received funding in the latest "Third Wave" and "Emerging List(s)" from the DCCC, and Hall has (conspicuously) not.

A NICE (seriously, don't piss 'em off, please) letter or email to the DCCC pointing out this "oversight" probably wouldn't hurt, either!!!

  •  Please add to the list (0+ / 0-)

GA-03 challenger Mike McGraw, working to defeat the author of the bill to weaken the Civil Rights Voting Act, the do-nothing-est member of the House, Lynn Westmoreland.

  •  Please add Webb in Va. (0+ / 0-)

I was listening to Tom Oliphant on the Al Franken show today and he specifically mentioned Webb. Tom said  that with sufficient money Webb could beat Allen but also that once the RNC started buying ads in Va. that Webb would loose that edge. In my opinion two incumbents HAVE to loose Leiberman and Allen. Thanks for listening.

  •  IN 6th Barry Welsh (0+ / 0-)

Barry Welsh is up against Mike Pence and there is almost no coverage on this race yet Barry is really a great candidate.

  •  Nancy Boyda (0+ / 0-)

KS-02, where she is the sane Democrat running against Jim Ryun, a corrupt and creepy right wing fanatic.
