Reasons to vote "YES!!" on the Torture Bill

Thu Sep 28, 2006 at 01:16:02 PM PDT

I am going to call my two Republican Senators, and tell them to vote "YES!!" on the Torture Bill. There are lots of reasons to do so, if you want to LOSE the War on Terror as quickly as possible. I'm going to pile on the sarcasm and reverse psychology and go as far as I can with these points until I get hung up on. I guess I'm in a foul mood.

Here goes...

We need to take our high American standards and sink down to the level of the terrorists - that will really anger the Muslims and make yet more terrorists!

At the same time, our traditional allies with higher moral standards will start to distance themselves from us, and America will be even more isolated in the world - that will really help us LOSE the War on Terror!

Since the Terrorists hate our Freedoms, voting YES!! on the Torture Bill is like a surrender to the terrorists. If we are willing to surrender the freedoms that the terrorists hate, our defeat cannot be far behind!

Vote YES!! on the Torture Bill so that all the Americans who died for our Freedoms will have died for nothing! That will suck the morale right out of our Freedom-Fighting troops, just like a blow to the gut!

Vote YES!! on the Torture Bill so that President Bush can use his keen wit to bastardize the work done by America's Greatest Generation. 57 years is too long for the Geneva Conventions to be unchanged and accepted by everybody.

Vote YES!! so that when we torture confessions out of people, we will use the unreliable information to waste time on false leads! Maybe we'll torture some innocent people who later decide to harm America because we unjustly tortured them! Maybe their relatives will try to get revenge!

------------------------------

Vote YES!! on the Torture Bill, so that after years of much death and evil, people will perhaps see how INSANE the Republican strategy is, and we can begin to get on the right track.

than that.  You can refuse to participate in government.  Jury duty is one event.
No, your honor I can't be impartial,I don't support torture!

    •  I'd still do jury duty (0+ / 0-)

I've almost been called up a few times. But never been selected for a case. I view that as my duty. Chances are, it wouldn't be a case with torture. And you don't know what the case is going to be beforehand anyway, as far as I know.

and boy it really seemed like they were nervous about people's non-participation in this function.
I was hoping to get called for a case.
I did write "radical alternate world views" on the questionaire and was just hoping they would ask.

  •  Keep them busy with DIVERSIONS, too (0+ / 0-)

    1. Make them justify this, spend time explaining, and drawing out the logic.
    1. Keep 'em busy.
    1. Diversion--What if this is a total diversion (from Iraq, economy, etc.) simply to prolong the detainment and postpone trials.....Good Possibility = courts will strike down.

Scalia. Thomas. Alito. Roberts. BushCo can extort the last vote. This one would really matter to them. They'll find a way.

  •  I'm going to go call now... (0+ / 0-)

So I won't be around to respond to comments (I'm driving home after that). I have to leave my cubicle and go out to my car because I don't want my boss to hear me yelling at Senator Scrotorum's phone people.

  •  Presidential secrets (0+ / 0-)

Considering that the NIE shows that Iraq has provided support for the terrorists, I'm looking forward to our next administration being able to waterboard Cheney until we find out about those those energy meetings.

Finally, our country will join those that allow incoming administrations to arrest and torture the previous ones into taking responsibility for every bad thing that ever happened.

    sigh..

So if we get rid of them, they'll leave us alone.
