Peter Jennings had a very interesting and informative close-up, one-on-one interview with Howard Dean on ABC Nightly News tonight.
Whoever says Dean is a cold, stony, unpersonable, secretive man who keeps his personal self hidden should have seen this. He and Peter told the story of Dean's life and how he came into politics with family photos and real empathy.

Disclaimer: I have been committed to Dean for more than a year. However, I am listening to all other Democrats in the race, since I believe each does offer unique perspectives on where we are and where we need to go. ABC News has done a good job overall in these face-to-face interviews with the Democratic candidates. Quite refreshing.
So here I was, basking in the afterglow of a positive, long Dean expose.
Then -
the closing story about the death of a beautiful, smart (#8 in her HS graduating class), young Hispanic/Latina lady who was just killed in Iraq.
How quickly we can go from cheers to tears these days.
I can barely see the keyboard as I write this, thinking of her parents and siblings. They were looking at the Purple Heart and two other cold, inanimate yet atractively boxed medals sent to them after their loved one's death.
What for, we ask?
The answers given by the Maladministration are more feeble every day.
This promising person, who loved music and performing, had a full scholarship to a California university. However, she wanted to see the world while young and able, and joined the Army.
Her parents broke my heart. They had to let their child follow her plan for her life, but at the same time did not ever support the invasion of Iraq.
What have we done?
Please help all of us and vote BushCo and the rest of that sorry cabal out of office in 2004.
