Georgia quoting a dude who said Bush was the best fucking president ever because he was fighting the Muslim terrorists in Iraq...

 "Because Iraq attacked us on 9/11."

Georgia implors each of us to respond to these wingnuts when we encounter them in our own lives. One time during the runup to the Iraq war, when there was the whole French bashing craze, someone sent me and a hundred other people an e-mail with a list of suggestions for sticking it to the French.  I hit "Reply All" and suggested the French were on the right track and that, thankfully, the whole world does not worship at the alter of George W. Bush (a rather unpopular point of view at the time).

But, so often I find myself trying to explain PNAC and Halliburton to people with short attention spans.  It's too complex and it takes too long.  Need something simple.  Join me on the flip...

Explaining Who Attacked Us ... in 60 Seconds

This is Osama bin Ladin, the man responsible for the September 11th terrorists attacks in the US.  Under President Bush, he has yet to be caught.  "I truly am not that concerned about him", said Mr. Bush.

This is Iraq.  Iraq had nothing to do with September 11th and, as we now know, they had no weapons of mass destruction.  But they did produce a lot of oil which helped keep gas prices low.  This made the big oil companies very unhappy.

At a cost of 2,700 American lives (so far) and 1,000 taxpayer dollars (so far) for every man, woman and child in the US, Bush and the Republican led Congress chose to invade Iraq causing severe disruptions in the world oil supply.  We now pay three dollars a gallon at the pump.  The oil companies are very happy.

Now the Republicans are thretening Iran.  

Iran has lots of oil, too.  If the oil companies liked Iraq, they'll love Iran.  

Can we really afford this?  Had Enough?

      The Bill of Rights,
      The Environment,
      The Middle Class,
      Immigration,
      Homeland Security,
      Health Care,
      National Debt,
      Jobs,
      Loss of benefits and pensions,
      Rising Crime rate,
      Military Readiness,
      Education Funding
      Global Warming
      Conservation and Alternative Energy Sources

  But the Republicans aren't cutting and running in Iraq..   no there they are lying and floundering.

    I remember when we couldn't tell the difference between the Democrats and Republicans. Some voted Green and, at the time, I couldn't blame 'em.  But between the Bush/Cheney/Rove crowd pushing the GOP farther right and the Dean Dems taking backing back the Democratic party - well, let's just say, it's a whole new ball game.
