So far the mainstream press is ignoring Drudge's bimbo "bombshell."
I'd like to think this is because there's simply nothing there, but another thought has occurred to me.
Say you're the mainstream press. You've been bought and paid for by the GOP and corporate America. Hell, you ARE corporate America.
You like Bush's tax cuts, you like his deregulation fixation, and your advertisers are just peachy about them too. You WANT another four years of Bush.
Now....you've got a story, or two or three, that could possibly destroy John Kerry's candidacy.
Do you want to release it now? With aproximately seventy-something percent of the state primaries yet to occur? When Democratic voters would have a chance to give the nomination to somebody else who might go on to (shudder) BEAT George W Bush?
No, of course not! You wait until Kerry is the nominee, or at least until he's racked up enough delegate votes in the primary to have secured the nomination (barring a brokered convention,) and THEN you destroy his candidacy!
Have I just gotten too cynical? Is it time to get myself fitted for the aluminum foil cap?
