PT911 - Get nasty! - Go Global!

I started this as a comment, but then I thought I ought to flesh it out a bit more as a diary. AmericaBlog posted a request for ideas to 'educate' Disney in the event that it airs the execrable "Path to 9/11". However, I believe that their wonderful list omits a key strategic fact: Bill Clinton is revered in virtually every country in the world and George Bush is despised and hated in the same places.

To see how this might play out, cross the fold:

Fact 1 - Disney is a global company. If you read Disney's 2005 annual report, you will see scads of reference to international properties, revenue, investment and visitors. Specifically, $7B (about 25%) of Disney's 2005 revenues came from operations outside the US and Canada and millions of foreign tourists traveled to the US to visit Disney's theme parks and attractions. International goodwill is crucial to both Disney's present and future.

Fact 2 - The global community is totally perplexed by American attitudes towards Bill and Chimpy. To them its a no-brainer. Bill is a world hero and Chimpy is a world villain.

Bush (and to a lesser degree, Clinton) stories are staple fare in foreign newspapers, TV programs, Internet, etc. For example, during the recent Kaloogian fiasco, I emailed a reporter at a Turkish newspaper to clue him in. Over the next week, stories ran in every Turkish daily paper (not necessesarily due to my action, but ...?), all laughing at the stupid Republicans.

Synthesis

To the rest of the world, PT911 will play out as a truly bizarre morality play:

Their beloved Mickey (the essence of goodness) is helping global villain (Bush) to savagely and unfairly attack their global hero (Bill).

Huh? Whats up with that?

Action

We need to explain it to them:

1) Email reporters and contacts at hundreds of newspapers, TV stations, etc. around the world - stressing the meme: Our beloved Mickey (the essence of goodness) is helping global villain (Bush) to unfairly and savagely attack our global hero (Bill).
2) Take the inevitable viral videos and Flash animations and translate them into as many languages as possible. At the very least, add subtitles. Send them to every international contact the netroots possesses.
3) Stress the unfairness of the mockumentary, so foreign TV outlets can debate it - stress the evil Disney motives.

Desired Outcome

Simple: Disney = Bush in the mind of the world.
