Bob Nardelli was the reason I won't shop at Home Depot.

He was Home Depot's overpaid wingnut C.E.O. No doubt he was behind Home Depot's giving the Swift Boat Liars 1 Million dollars to help them spread their slanders.

People like Bob Nardelli are what's wrong with with America's political system, as well as it's economic system. It is obsene that a person like this can have thousands of times more say in our country's political course than the typical citizen has.

Robert L. Nardelli, the chief executive of Home Depot, who came under heavy criticism for his pay package and failure to lift the chain’s stagnant stock price, has abruptly resigned, the company said today.

In its statement, Home Depot said that Mr. Nardelli and the company’s board "mutually agreed that Nardelli would leave his position."

He will receive about $210 million in compensation from the company, including the current value of retirement and other benefits he was already entitled to, the statement said.

Bob  Nardelli was in George Bush's mutual backscratching club:

AT HOME IN THE WHITE HOUSE: Home Depot's CEO, Bob Nardelli, will need no introduction when he sits with President Bush on the panel on "lawsuit abuse" today. Nardelli hosted a fundraiser with Bush in May, pulling in $3.2 million for GOP candidates. Nardelli's company, Home Depot, has donated $1.5 million to the Republican Party since 1999 and "during that time, no candidate has benefited from Home Depot's largesse more than Bush." But Home Depot has received a great return on its investment: in October, Congress secured a $44 million subsidy for Chinese ceiling fans, of which Home Depot is one of the main beneficiaries. Nardelli and his wife, Susan, have donated $76,000 to GOP coffers.

Here's where his visible money is going:

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.
