Why is it that self-described "economy expert" neocon lackey authors like Thomas Sowell and Irwin Stelzer somehow never get around to addressing the war as a giant drain on America's economy and resources? Ever?
"Experts" of their caliber will certainly weigh in on virtually every other economic issue under the sun. But why won't they go after war profiteering? Look their articles up for yourself. A casual perusal of titles reveals that these corporate-funded policy wonks weigh in regularly on virtually any other issue - from trickle down economics to NAFTA, from education to healthcare, even the politics of Venuzuela and prison labor in China. But just try finding any published policy pieces specifically addressing how much money their mideast quagmire costs Americans or how to allieviate it.
Don't waste too much time looking, though, because there are none. At least none that I could find. And I looked pretty hard.
Could this be simply because they and their ilk are soulless neocons who have been completely bought-and-paid-for by the militaryindustrial complex? The fact that these "experts" stringently avoid addressing how privateering the war in Iraq seriously affects America's economy reveals just about all one needs to know about who they are.
And by the way, if you decide to go looking for economic and political answers to our incredible ever expanding war profiteering problem at the various corporate funded think tanks like the Hoover Institute, Cato, and the aforementioned American Enterprise Institute, don't forget to do a thorough search at Joe Lieberman and Rahm Emmanuel's favorite brain trust over at the Progressive Policy Institute website.
Apparently they're not interested in pursuing any answers regarding war profiteering either.
