I apologize in advance for what promises to be a brief diary, but a) I had to vent, and b) I want everybody to know that AOL can kiss my ass. They are nothing but a bunch of grifters. Actually, they're more like the mob or a gang. Once you get in, you can't get out.
This is what it's like to cancel your AOL subscription. If, it gets cancelled at all.
After jumping through numerous hoops and having to talk to every fucking person employed by AOL, I cancelled my subscription nearly two years ago.
Jump ahead two years later and my wife (who pays most of the bills) informs me that we're still being charged by AOL. So, for two years, they've been charging us $20/month on our phone bill AFTER I went through all that shit to get cancelled in the first place.
Yeah, we probably should've paid more attention to our phone bill and caught it earlier, but the fact of the matter is, they shouldn't be charging me for a service I don't use (I have broadband now).
Now, I'm taking bets on whether I get my money back. I'm not sure that I will, but if I don't, I'm going to make sure I cost them way more.
Anybody else have an AOL horror story they'd like to share?
