After years of standing by and watching this horrific trainwreck of a presidency, the Dems are caught flat-footed, yet again, tone-deaf to world-historical moment.
What is the Democratic plan for the future?
How will they incapacitate this madman?
Why is Dick Durban waxing indignant against those ungrateful Iraqis whose lives of hedonistic pleasure comes off the fat of American troops?
According to Durban, we liberated the Iraqi people, bestowed them freedom from our boundless largess, and for our trouble all they can do is sit around eating water melon and fried chicken, bestirring themselves just enough to dial 911 and watch us come running.
Why can't they just lift themselves up by their bootstraps?
And we thought the Negro was lazy!
And speaking of negros, did you see Obama interviewed by Olberman?
What did he say, the party's rising star, its future, its youth, its optimism?
Anything?
Nothing.
Olberman begged him to save this country from blundering into an Iranian apocalypse.
And what did Obama say?
No, really, I can't remember.
The One Guy developing a reputation as a visionary--whom Chris Matthews even extolled for his eloquence after the interview--I can't remember a word he said in a moment in which America and more importantly the World is screaming for Bush's head, not principally out of revenge, but out of fear!
He's armed, he's insane, and he's the Most Dangerous Man on Earth.
And what does Obama say?
"Let the healing begin."
Oh, wait, maybe that was the other guy.
Oh, but Obabm did see fit to fan the flames of war (just a little) by conceding that Iran and Syria have been "making mischief" in Iraq and that military action thereagainst is warranted, albeit we should also talk to Iran.
Senator Obama, dear Senator Obama, it's not Iran and Syria that are scaring the world, it's our president!
Even Chris Matthews admitted to being "worried" about confrontation with Iran and troubled that Bush is still plodding forward with the neo-con philosophy. Not only did he admit to being worried, but that stupid smug face of his appeared visibly shaken.
He kept repeating that he and Olberman have flagged Iran as the Big Issue and let's see if the newspapers do too.
"Just setting up shop elsewhere," is how Olberman described an engagement with Iran.
The President got up there and, in spite of everything, continued to talk about the War on Terror. And of course, inasmuch as their can be such a thing, he's right!
We've fucked that region and the human beings who live there but good and for a long, long time to come.
The eyes of the world looking to the Democrats to stop this bloody, spectacularly inept and belligerent tyrant, the Dems say nothing.
Will no one rid us of this tyrant?
Months, nay years to prepare for this moment.
The helm was theirs for the taking and they decided they didn't want it afterall.
Can you blame people for following Bush?
At least he's compelling.
He offers a demonic vision, but one could argue that a demonic vision is better than no vision.
"The Democrats aren't leading the opposition right now, the public is." Some pundit's response to a statement just issued by Hillary that she cannot support a troop surge. He says the safety zone has well been reached since more than %60 of Americans agree with that statement.
Because leadeship is nothing without courage, right?
But the thing is, nothing has changed in four years; here are the Democrats being the hacks they are when they should be busy captivating people. When they should be busy figuring out what their vision is.
These are the words we wanted to hear, "If we need to impeach this man to stop this madness, we will impeach this man."
Something, anything to let the world know that this madness will not range on unchecked.
If Claudius (Hamlet's uncle) were here, he'd know what to do.
King: How dangerous is it that this man goes loose!
Yet must not we put the strong law on him:
He's loved of the distracted multitude,
Who like not in their judgment, but their eyes;
And where tis so, the offender's scourge is weigh'd,
But never the offence.
King: Oh heauy deed: It had bin so with vs had we beene there: His Liberty is full of threats to all, To you your selfe, to vs, to euery one.
Alas, how shall this bloody deede be answered?
It will be laide to vs, whose prouidence Should haue kept short, restrain'd, and out of haunt, This mad yong man. But so much was our loue, We would not vnderstand what was most fit, But like the Owner of a foule disease, To keepe it from divulging, let's it feede Euen on the pith of life.
HELP, HELP, FIRE! MURDER! <<p>
CONFUSION hath made her masterpiece!
Behold what through the devil's proxy he hath wrought on earth what thrives in hell!
