Rumors that Sen. Wayne Allard (R-CO) won't run for re-election have been numerous in recent months. Sen. Allard has not raised much money and a goodly number of his staffers have left his employ.
There's a reasonably good chance you'll find out whether the rumors are true next week.
Sen. Allard has scheduled a news conference for Monday, Jan. 15. The subject has not, as far as I'm aware, been disclosed.
Some suspect the senator will announce he is not running again, so as to give GOP candidates a chance to get a campaign up and running.
Alot of people in Colorado think that Allard's chosen successor is former U.S. Rep. Scott McInnis. Others think Allard would favor former Gov. Bill Owens. Who knows? What does seem clear is that there are a number of Republicans possibly interested in the seat.
Anyway, stay tuned.
