Ok, what is the real deal here? I don't care if you worship Allah, Yaweh, Isis, or Bugs Bunny. I have a Jewish housemate, a catholic Irish housemate, while I am a multi-ethnic independent spiritualist. We can live together. Why can't others?
Former President Jimmy Carter, that hate monkering nobel peace prize winner, is now being called, not just an anti-semite, but a Coward, Hypocrite, and a Bully.
Can we just stop with all the name calling and have a friggin conversation people?! It's time we just laid out some history and facts about the middle east and faced the music.
What is really going on here? When an eighty eight year old man writes a controversial book and gets called a "coward and a bully" right out of the starting gate, somebody's trying to hide something!
Said Harvard law professor and lawyer Alan Dershowitz about Carter:
"It's the height of cowardice," said Dershowitz. "He released this book saying he wanted to spark a debate and now he refuses to do just that."
In an opinion piece in the Boston Globe Dershowitz also called Carter a "hypocrite" for telling Brandies officials he would not debate Dershowitz.
Never mind that Carter is scheduled to speak at the university to students who don't want a debate, but have their own questions to ask of Carter.
A Carter spokeswoman and university officials say Carter will speak for about 15 minutes and then answer questions for 45 minutes during the visit, tentatively scheduled for January 23.
Some students and faculty had objected when the speaking invitation to Carter, the Nobel Peace Prize winner, suggested the debate with Dershowitz, a Harvard Law professor who has disparaged the book "Palestine: Peace Not Apartheid." They said Carter should be invited to campus without conditions.
Seems reasonable.
So regardless of the controversy, I'm sure President Carter has a busy schedule. And if you want a debate, make an appointment! Making demands on a peaceful man and brave author is what I call being the Coward, Hypocrite, and a Bully.
Methinks you do protest too much! Or is this increasing controversy the exact mechanism of Carter's desire to open the path of communication between Palestine and Israel?
