Yesterday we had a diary calling for impeachment and last night a diary reacting against it.
One diary I agree with. The other I do not. One was a call for action. The other was a call for...well...nothing. I have a problem with that.
Those who say we cannot expect change quickly or that we do not have the power to change need to save their breath. We've been hearing that for far too long. We can create change. And we do not have to wait until January 20th 2009.
We do not need to read exit poll data. We know the number one issue is Iraq. If you try and tell us otherwise you are wrong. And you do nothing but make excuses for inaction.
Don't talk to us about reality. The reality is the U.S. is supporting a campaign of illegal occupation, genocide and profiteering. There is nothing else you can say that will diminish the effect of this disaster of a foreign policy.
Do not tell us to be patient. We have been patient. The situation gets worse day by day. There is no more time for patience.
Do not tell us we are being unreasonable because the troops aren't home after 7 days of a Democratic congress. Unreasonable is the call for an escalation of war when Americans are clearly against it. We are not being unreasonable.
Do not tell us we cannot impeach. We can.
Do not tell us to understand the facts. We understand the facts. Our country has been hijacked by madmen. And they are ignoring the will of the American people. 650,000+ dead Iraqis. 3,000 dead Americans. A President who wants an escalation of war. We understand the facts clearly.
And we are not showing wisdom you say? Wisdom is knowing that the 300 million people of this great country have the power. Those who are elected are our servants. Not the other way around. The people have the power.
If you are working toward the solution in your own way -- good for you. But don't tell those of us who are passionately working for change that we are unreasonable, do not understand, aren't following wisdom, cannot expect change quickly, aren't being realistic and cannot impeach.
Step aside. History is not made by the likes of you.
Update: This is admittedly a reactionary rant.
