John Edwards is calling both George Bush as well as the Congress out on their BULLSHIT on this impending escalation. David Bonior, former congressman from Michigan, comes out swinging as Edwards' new campaign manager:
This weekend, President Bush claimed on national TV that Congress does not have the power to stop his proposed escalation of the war in Iraq.
That's bull. I served in Congress for 26 years, and I can assure you that Congress does have the power to stop this escalation -- and it has used that power many times before, including in Vietnam, Lebanon, Nicaragua and Colombia.
And while this escalation of the war ramps up, Iraq descends into chaos ahead of the escalation, moving likely into a regional war of George Bush's making; the Sunnis are massacring as many Shiites as possible before this escalation happens with their simple and thus-far successful strategy of isolating Maliki, the ostensible "leader" of the crumbling Iraq. Maliki won't attack his fellow Shiites for GWB after these massacres!?
That's why John Edwards couldn't be more accurate on calling out politicians in both parties on the total crock of shit escalation...
That's why we're going to run a full-page ad in Roll Call -- the newspaper all of Congress reads -- with John Edwards' petition against the escalation, listing the tens of thousands of us who have signed it. The petition demands that this Congress use its power of the purse to stop this president from escalating the war in Iraq -- and that's what we're going to put in the ad.
Good for you Mr. Edwards; I'm heading over right now to sign the petition here.

At least one of the Democratic presidential candidates is saying what we've all been saying since this latest George Bush scheme was announced... the escalation and the meek response from Congress is a steaming load of you know what...
The silence is deafening from the rest of them.
