Well, I can't say I'm terribly surprised by such an allegation by Michael "Heckuva Job" Brown, but...well, I'm not terribly surprised. Since he was thrown under the bus by Dubya and Rove, his tune has changed quite a bit over the whole Katrina fiasco. His latest statement is just another example of how Dubya and the Rethugs value their party over something quaint like human life.
"Unbeknownst to me, certain people in the White House were thinking, 'We had to federalize Louisiana because she's a white, female Democratic governor, and we have a chance to rub her nose in it,'" he said, without naming names. "'We can't do it to Haley (Barbour) because Haley's a white male Republican governor. And we can't do a thing to him. So we're just gonna federalize Louisiana.'"
There goes that Dubya again, the bipartisan wonder. Of course, the White House is denying that such behavior occurred.
Now, it's nice that Brownie's putting this out there, but it would have been even nicer had he spoken up during the whole fiasco and perhaps more lives would have been saved. But that's what happens in this administration - brown nose (no pun intended) until you're given the boot.
