Sen. Hagel told his Republican colleagues :
"This is a very real, responsible, addressing of the most divisive issue in this country since Vietnam. Sure, it's tough. Absolutely. And, I think, all 100 senators ought to be on the line on this. What do you believe? What are you willing to support? What do you think? Why were you elected? If you wanted a safe job, go sell shoes."
I would say that this advice is even more relevant to the Democratic 2008 Presidential candidates like Sen. Clinton, Sen. Biden, Sen. Edwards, Sen. Obama and others. Particularly the first three, since they all voted for the disaster in the first place. Even Obama is rather wishy-washy about what to do with Iraq.
If any of these candidates does not say "Let's get the hell out of Iraq", I suspect some GOP candidate will say it first. And from then on, it will be the Democratic party candidates that will be defending the Iraq mess!. It wouldn't matter one bit to the Emperor in the White House because he doesn't care anymore, as long as his buddies keep raking it in.
What do you think?
