I'm deeply sorry for the shouting headline, but how else can I greet this news:
Landmark Legal Foundation today nominated nationally syndicated radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh for the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize.
Limbaugh, whose daily radio show is heard by more than 20 million people on more than 600 radio stations in the United States and around the world, was nominated for the prestigious award for his "nearly two decades of tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all humankind, regardless of race, creed, economic stratum or national origin. These are the only real cornerstones of just and lasting peace throughout the world," said Landmark President Mark R. Levin.
Emphasis mine.
Soooooo, by any standards, I think my Mom would make a better candidate. How do I recommend her? Hey, at least she'll be able to say she didn't come in last!
I mean obviously this is an attempt to take wind from the wonderful fact that Al Gore was nominated, and a pretty damn weak one at that. But c'mon, Rush? RUSH? Next it'll be ole' Bill Dembski for the medicine award? Perhaps Jerome Corsi for Literature?
But let's just look into some excellent examples of how deserving the Big Fat Idiot is of such a prize.
They nominated Dumbo for promoting:
Liberty
Wouldn't it be great if anybody who speaks out against this country, to kick them out of the country? Anybody that threatens this country, kick 'em out. We'd get rid of Michael Moore, we'd get rid of half the Democratic Party if we would just import that law. That would be fabulous. The Supreme Court ought to look into this. Absolutely brilliant idea out there.
equality
“If we are going to start rewarding no skills and stupid people - I'm serious, let the unskilled jobs, let the kinds of jobs that take absolutely no knowledge whatsoever to do - let stupid and unskilled Mexicans do that work”
opportunity for all humankind
Feminism was established to allow unattractive women easier access to the mainstream.
regardless of race, creed..blah blah blah, lie lie lie...
“The difference between Los Angeles and yogurt is that yogurt comes with less fruit.”
They might as well nominate Bush for, well, I guess Georgie is just as qualified for any Nobel category as Limbaugh is for Peace.
So who are these turds who make up the Landmark Legal Foundation? Oh, geez I'm so surprised more vitriolic wingnuts:
From their website homepage: (That should be good enough for citation. No traffic for them!)
On Their "Judicial Reform Initiative:
...The Left has no end of ways to demonize people who oppose unelected judges reaching into and ruling on every aspect of modern life.
Reading more it appears to me they also hate the EPA, the Bill of Rights (ok I threw that it, but it's probably true), the Bureau of Land Management, Public Schools (particularly teachers), and just basically legally harass to interfere and make their opponents waste time and money.
Slap my wrist for promoting it. But just imagine if the Nobel Foundation gave out report cards at the end of the voting.
