Ive kinda noticed this patern/trend in politics, that i find ammusing.Ive been hearing alot of politicians i.e. Hilary Clinton,John McCain and the former Secretary Of Defense Donald Rumsfeld saying that "Theyve been to Iraq in the past 2 weeks and theyve talked to many of the troops.",which is totally fine. However im always blown away by there meaning of "talking to the troops".Theres things that they'll say the troops have said and i cant help but think that there either not telling the truth or that service member gave the "join the club" answers. You know the ones where they tell you everything you want too hear when deep down you know thats not really whats being felt in there minds and hearts. Why do we down play the worst situations?I understand wanting to spare the family the fear but why do soldiers tend to hide behind the uniform and say what they think is expected?Have any of you noticed this? When did "tact" and sugar coating become hand and hand in the military?I dont no,its just a thought.
I sometimes get really amazed at some of the things i hear on TV news or hear people discussing.I no people are thinking "hey, you shouldnt believe what you see on TV news because its on either one side or the other of the isle",and in many ways i agree.Alot of times i watch TV news to see the bias.Like have you ever really sat and listened to Rush Limbaugh?I do.Not because i believe what he does but because im always ammused at how people talk about troop numbers and all this and that about the troops.Mean while you never see interviews with the troops that arent Generals.Alot of the politicians are finding it fun to say that theyve been to Iraq or Afghanistan in the past month and theyve talk to many troops that are always all for what ever crazy thing there pushing.WHERE ARE THESE TROOPS?,and where are the interviews and video taped questions of them shooting the breeze at Ramadi asking troops how they feel about anything? Its not there.Ive seen them when they arrive.Know one tells you there coming and they show up in the chow halls and ask you 2 non-complicated questions that ultimately come down to you saying "yes sir, just doing my job",or "oh its no problem, this is what where trained to do." I wish they where there in the MWR Phone Booths at Midnight on any Army F.O.B. in Iraq.I hear different things.I hear the sounds of men and women begging there spouses to sty with them alittle longer and not to leave them.I hear them arguing over an affair and how it will affect there kids.I personally know what its like to lie to my mother and family and tell them im okay and everythings fine when its not even close.People at home never understand what its like to sit on the phone and try to feel normal, while your wondering if the MWR your calling from is next on th hit list. There losing there lives.Dont spek of honor and duty and patriotism to a man or woman thats risking everything for those same words.1 tour,2,3, and if god truely loves you than thats it.Constantly thinking of what youll do when you get home, while you walk back to your hooch to count down another day in the worst place on this earth.Watch on your TV's when politicians go to "visit the troops".Itll be in a chow hall.
