I got some great news today. After the last four weeks at the train wreck that is my radio station, I damn sure needed some.
Beers below the fold. I'm buying. What'll you have?
This diary dedicated to the memory of Robert P. Scanlon.
Rosemarie Jackowski is an advocacy journalist living in Vermont. On March 20, 2003, her 66th birthday, she was arrested for participating in a peaceful protest against the war.
I came home from yet another Day From Hell at work (the last three weeks have been a series of crises, each worse than the last, and we are now in the worst disaster I've ever seen in my entire career) to find this email from kossack vtpeace:

BENNINGTON - Nearly four years after her arrest for standing in the road during a war protest, a local grandmother can put the court proceedings behind her. Her overturned conviction won't be tried again.
New Bennington County State's Attorney Erica Albin Marthage announced Friday she would be dropping charges of disorderly conduct that stemmed from a 2003 war protest against 69-year-old Rosemarie Jackowski. Jackowski was convicted of the charge before the state Supreme Court overturned her conviction last November.
(Cue Bill O'Reilly, hater of all things Vermont. Oh, PLEASE.)
"Given the severity of the crime, I do not believe it is a wise use of taxpayer dollars to continue this prosecution," (newly minted state's attorney Erica) Marthage said in a statement issued Friday.
Well, no kiddin'.
You guys remember this, right?
What do you think the mouth breathers are gonna do now?
My answer is bring 'em on. :) :) :) :)
At any rate, here's a quick note from Rosemarie:
THANKS (4.00 / 2) [delete comment]
Just dropping by give a great big THANK YOU to all who helped during this 4 year battle. We all deserve a tall cool one right now. Hugs to all of us.

"All in all it's been quite a long haul. This will free up some of my time. I will try to do more writing and expose what the government's foreign policy has been," said Jackowski on Sunday. "I'm sorry that the millions of people around the world haven't been able to make change. It goes to show you that this government is not concerned with the will of the people."
I want to thank everyone in the Daily Kos community who was supportive of Rosemarie through this mess. Again, I'm happy to be able to tell you that it is over.
Now..to END THE WAR.
Peace.
