Hi, The Centerfielder here. I woke up this morning and the dKosopedia domain seems not to be feeling well. Initially I was getting 404 not found errors, and a little later it was pointing to an old version of the site. Now it's back to a 404. The subdomain meta.dkosopedia.com is doing something else entirely.
I'm trying to find out what's wrong. It may be that the tubes through which the internet flows got froze up because of the cold here in Michigan, so I'm rummaging around in the garage looking for some antifreeze and a space heater. Please bear with me.
Updates after the jump...
Update [2007-2-8 13:47:56 by dKosopedia]: Ok, it seems that the dns entries for dkosopedia.com got modified to a different box, and the new box, for some reason, had a 3 year old copy of the dKosopedia, complete with MySQL db, sitting on it. Weird. DNS fixes are propagating.
Update [2007-2-8 14:24:25 by dKosopedia]: Looks like meta.dkosopedia.com is ok now. Waiting on dkosopedia.com
Update [2007-2-8 18:15:38 by dKosopedia]: So here's what happened. My ISP bought a bunch of IP addresses from someone, and started migrating their servers to those addresses. The dkosopedia.com domain used to be on one of those servers -- cerebus -- about two or three years ago. They sent email to everyone whose domains are on cerebus about the plans and that they should keep an eye on things. So what they do is modify the IP address and then go through the server and modify the DNS entries for all the domains they find on the server. It turns out that when dkosopedia.com was moved two years ago they didn't delete the site, which is actually ok in case there are post-migration problems, so dkosopedia.com was found on the server, and its DNS entries changed. Whew. We be fine now.
