Last Spring Democrats in California's 36th Congressional District were asked to choose between incumbent hawk Rep. Jane Harman and upstart, progressive, anti-war candidate Marcy Winograd. Winograd did relatively well given the fact that she was seriously out spent by one of the wealthiest if not the wealthiest person in Congress, powerful, long time incumbent Jane Harman.
Now Marcy Winograd is teaming up with other Southern California progressives as a part of the national Occupation Project. Some will be protesting outside while others will be engaging in non-vilent civil disobedience at the Pasadena, California offices of Congressman Adam Schiff.
Please recommend Winograd's diary Face Time or In Your Face Time? to register your support.
Democrat Adam Schiff sits on the powerful House Appropriations Committee. Here's how he's voted on the Iraq War:
- YES on October 10, 2002 Iraq War Authorization
- YES on April 3, 2003 First Supplmental Funding for Iraq War
YES NO on October 17, 2003 to fund Iraq War with an additional $87 Billion Tax Payer dollars*
- YES on March 16, 2005 another blank check for the Iraq War
- YES on March 16, 2006 yet another blank check for the Iraq War
Marcy Winograd and others will be risking arrest this week to stop the bloody occupation of Iraq. Please visit her diary Face Time or In Your Face Time? and learn why activists believe that they must risk arrest to be heard by Congress. Please recommend her diary now.
Adam Schiff's office is located at 87 North Raymond, Pasadena, California 91103
The Occupation Project will be protesting there on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday - February 12th, 13th & 14th between the hours of 11AM and 6PM
You are strongly encouraged to join the protest.
If you can't make it to Pasadena, here's contact info for Adam Schiff:

or
- send a fax to 626-304-0572 or 202-225-5828
Stop this bloody war & occupation.
Support our Troops. Bring them home.
PS ~ I will be live blogging from the protest on Monday & Tuesday.
Update Monday, 2.12.07 2:30PM: I 'm a few blocks from Congressman Schiff's Pasadena California office where the protest will continue until 6PM today. I will be posting a diary about the protest in the next short while - not exactly "live blogging" since the internet cafe is blocks from the office & the tubes seem to be rather slow - I'd just like to add a correction here - According to a washington source, the Congressman voted against the October 17, 2003 $87 Billion dollar supplemental appropriation for the Iraq War - readers may not the in subsequent years Representative Schiff did vote to fund the war - the source was unable to speak on the congressman's behalf when I asked why Mr. Schiff had voted no on October 17, 2003 - but thought that it might have had something to do with the supplemental nature of the appropriation.
