Everybody hates e-mail spam, right? Well, some people really try really hard to make a difference. Among them, Paul Laudanski who set up CastleCops as a community-driven repository of ideas, information and tools to identify and deal with malware (not "just" spam - also viruses, trojans, etc). He also set up KnujOn as a place to report and forward spam messages, to ferret down and close spammer outfits. Guess what: CastleCops is under a full-scale DDoS attack right now, making the site hardly reachable.
He has a little update on his news page, if you're interested in reading up on it.
The scourge of spammers really needs to be dealt with. If you can, check out that news page - and if you can spare some moolah to support CastleCops, much appreciated (see that news page for info on how to do that).
Kudos, Paul: you're not alone, and hopefully this will lead to a growth spurt for your efforts.
Edited to add: in case you wondered, yes this isn't the first day of the attack - what's startling is that after a massive effort to get CastleCops back on its feet and going again, the criminals managed to knock 'em over once more, in spite of the much hardened security placed over the past few days. In other words: they're determined, and they have it in for Paul and Robin Laudanski specifically.
