From Yahoo News:
Bush views Britain's troop cutbacks as "a sign of success" in Iraq, said U.S. National Security Council spokesman Gordon Johndroe.
So we have Representative Don Young (R-Alaska) repeating invented quotes by Abraham Lincoln and calling, on the floor of Congress, for death to any Representative who voted for a non-binding resolution opposing "the surge" (before he had his lackeys "clarify" that he doesn't really want anyone to be executed for their vote but still stands by what he said). We have every wingnut bullhorn screeching about "the morale of the troops" plummetting if we so much as think about putting a cap or exercising oversight on any aspect of B*sh's mad adventure. We have the Senate filibustered twice in under 2 weeks...in complete and utter hypocrisy to the mantra of upperdownvote that piously rang from the filibusters' nuclear option mouths not one year ago...to prevent a vote on the same non-binding resolution.
All this to stop even a hint of displeasure over increasing troop levels, never mind the genocidal horrors we are relentlessly assured await if we withdraw or even begin to draw down.
But Britain's troop cutbacks are a sign of success.
Speechless.
