For the Republicans and their corporate donors, the Iraq War will end the minute it becomes unprofitable for them to continue it. And not one minute sooner. Period.
So here is your BINDING resolution. Short. Sweet. To the point.
And it completely sidesteps the Republican's B.S. of "cutting off funding meaning that you don't support the troops". As a matter of fact, it doesn't cut off funding at all, it just shifts it.
Whereas it has been noted throughout history that wars are fought with "blood and treasure"; and
Whereas disproportionally the "blood" for the Iraq War has been provided by the sons and daughters of the poor and middle class; and
Whereas it is inherently unfair to ask those who have so bravely provided the "blood" to also bear the burden of providing the "treasure"; and
Whereas corporations and rich Americans have disproportionally reaped the monetary benefits of the freedoms and institutions provided by our great nation;
Now, therefore, be it resolved that all future funding for operations in Iraq will be paid for solely by a special tax on large corporations and on Americans earning in excess of $1 million per year.
There you have it. If the Republicans want this war so bad, let them pay for it.
I guarantee that if something like this resolution was passed we would be out of Iraq so quickly it would make your head spin.
