I didn't think it would be possible for me to hate Oprah Winfrey even more, until I saw Bill O'Reilly con his way onto her show as "America's foremost expert on how to stop Child Molestation."
Let me preface this by saying, I understand why James Frey did when he fabricated some portions of his memoir. Prior to the book being a bestseller, "A Million Little Pieces" was turned down 17 times by various publishing companies. And, as a Graduate Student in the Fiction Writing Department at Columbia College, the chances of making it big as a Fiction Writer are razor thin. So, I empathize with Frey and will not hold him to the same accountability that I hold George W. Bush to.
Yet, when Oprah discovered that some of Frey's accounts were highly exaggerated, she first defended him and then out of the clear blue decided to do a 360 and brought him back on her show where she proceeded to throw him under the bus while "Oprah nation" nodded approvingly.
But surely even Oprah's strident supporters and ass kissers can't defend the talk show empress' decision to bring Conservative talk show host Bill O'Reilly on her show to discuss the dangers of Child Molestation.
Let me help Oprah and her crack research team because it appears they didn't do enough research of their own:
Bill O'Reilly, a married man with two young children, used his position of power to sexually harrass a much younger woman. Thus throwing money away like manhole covers to keep it from going any further than it should've.
Bill O'Reilly, a man who relies on propaganda and mind-blowing lies claimed that Missouri kidnap victim Shawn Hornbeck "had fun" while being held captive and repeatedly raped by a scumbag.
What does Oprah do?
Nothing.
She allows O'Reilly to walk scot free.
She allows O'Reilly to lie in front of a nationwide audience. An audience of mostly women.
She allows O'Reilly to have a free platform where he can make himself an expert on how to protect children from molestation when he was pulled as the keynote speaker by the National Center for missing and Exploited Children for his outlandish remarks on Shawn Hornbeck.
But this isn't the first time, O'Reilly has conned his way onto Oprah's show. A few months prior I was floored to see O'Reilly on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" to hold a town hall meeting concerning the topics of his latest book "Culture Warrior."
Again, let me help you guys with some Crack Research:
Bill O'Reilly said we should allow Al-Qaeda to bomb San Francisco to prove a point.
End of story.
Yet, I truly believed that Oprah felt sorry for O'Reilly, considering the fact that Bill-O was complaining that she didn't have enough "traditional values" guests on her show.
There's simply no excuse for this. I don't care if Ms. Winfrey is the be all end all of the talk show circuit. She deserves as much criticize for this as Bill O'Reilly. You don't give this man another chance to spread his message of lies posing as absolute truths.
If Maureen Dowd had any guts like she did in calling Oprah out last year for the Frey debacle or for her hatchet job on Senator Obama, then she should call out Oprah for giving a sexual predator an opportunity to speak on how we can protect the most vulnerable from people like him.
Calling O'Reilly a hypocrite is like saying the sky is blue.
But there are no words to describe Oprah's blatant hypocrisy.
