I don't know about you but I'm sick to death of phony think-tanks that proclaim that to be, "an independent, nonprofit and nonpartisan research organization dedicated to providing concerned citizens, the media and public leaders with expert empirical research and timely free market policy solutions" when in fact they are partisan, populated by political dirty-tricksters, and more or less directly funded by corporations and PACS with an axe to grind.
And so I'm going to fight back. I'm going to see how many waves I can make by creating my own "think-tank" -- a many-layered web site that passes fair on the plausability index -- unless, of course, one demonstrates a modicum of critical thinking skills, whereupon it will be easily recognized as satire.
I'm now accepting applications for Board Membership, and General Membership (there's no difference between them at all, except Board Membership will get you a better title) in the Vermont Center for Policy Research.
Update:
Now further accepting applications for:
+ Smarmy Know-it-alls
+ Effete Intellectual-types
+ God-like researchers
+ Policy Wonks
+ Symposiasts
+ Ad-hominists
+ Baristas
(And as soon as the domain propogates, I'll be able to direct you to it.)
This is just for fun, but methinks there may be a lesson or two in it.
