Bush rides the "Little" Limo! :)
My 11 year old son, Jack came to me this afternoon and asked me what I thought about the war. Since he's only 11, I believe one of my main responsibilities as a parent is to teach him fairly while trying to keep the vitriol to a minimum.
My answer and his subsequent questions turned into a long conversation that I'd love to share so please, read on...
My first response to my son's question on my thoughts abuout the war was to ask "Which war?". I proceeded to explain, from 9/11 on, Afghanistan, Iraq, GWOT, Iran and Bush Doctrine, as well as Islamic Extremism vs. Islam.
Our discussion wound up covering global warming, America's oil interests, Alternative fuel, Kyoto, lobbying, current debates on each of our wars, and several other things. My son knows well how little regard I have for Bush, but I do actually try to encourage him to think objectively about politics and religiion. However, when anyone comes up with a good Bush joke, I find it necessary to pass it on.
Because of my own political activism and entertainment interests, my son has been exposed to Bill Maher, George Carlin, and lots of other political and comedic entertainers. So, he's heard the expression
"riding the little bus" on many occasions.
At the end of our discussion, my son told me in a very matter of fact voice "Dad, Bush must ride the little limo."
I hope those of you who are as visually oriented as I am will enjoy the thought of a Bush caricature, sitting in the back of tiny little limo with a dunce cap on his head...! I think it sounds like a children's book that could be a cautionary tale; Don't bite off more than you can chew!! Maybe we could have a dKos collaboration to write it:
Bush and the Little Limo
Anyway, I laughed so hard I cried and told him I would put it in a diary tonight!!
Thanks for indulging me! :)
