• Knowing my own entire family has (3+ / 0-)
moved down there from Massachusetts I would say between eastern migrants to Florida, snowbirds taking up residence, Jeb, and dismay over Bush and all Republicans, that turning to a Blue State is a natural progression at this point. We just have to ensure that we are worthy.

• Do any Florida members (2+ / 0-)
of your family blog? If so, tell them to contact us.
by Tally on Sun Jan 28, 2007 at 08:32:20 AM EST
• Yes and I will give them your link. (4+ / 0-)
My Mother is very concerned about what Republicans are doing and my sisters are very opinionated and anti Republican. I have fostered that feeling whenever possible. I will tell them to contact you!

• And your diary on (3+ / 0-)

• Will this address gerrymandering? (0 / 0)
I know we came up short during the last election cycle to put a fair plan for redistricting in the Constitution. I think this is one of the most critical issues we have to deal with.
Thanks for the work on this one, and for bigger and better to come in future issues.
by corwin on Sun Jan 28, 2007 at 01:03:10 PM EST
• Gerrymandering (0 / 0)
I am sure someone will do an issue on gerrymandering in the future. It is obviously very important we win back the state legislature and end the gerrymandering of districts, so we can have a fair chance at winning in the future.
Do you think you could help out?
Are you in the Yahoo Florida Kossacks Group?
by Progressive America on Sun Jan 28, 2007 at 01:35:52 PM EST
• Help? (0 / 0)
Possibly. What do you need? And where will the diary be, here, yahoo group or FlaPolitics.com? And I just joined the Yahoo group, membership pending.

• Doesn't matter (0 / 0)
How much about the Florida districting do you know? Would you like to write a diary on the topic?
Once written, it could be posted here or on FlaPolitics and put in the magazine.
Our main goal here is to build the Florida netroots and a great way to do that is using the magazine to feature diaries from many people and on many topics on Florida politics.

• Thanks for this! (4+ / 0-)
Please keep us posted not only on your progress in your state, but some of the "inside baseball" about what tactics seem to be more/less effective. What are you learning along the way?
This can be a model for other states that can be worked into blue-ness with some good strateg-ery!

I was pimping the training at the anti-war rally in Sarasota yesterday (great turnout, btw). We need to bring all like-minded people together to turn this state blue again.

• I hope the "Big Man Himself" quote (4+ / 0-)
is about my rather rotund body size. :)
'Cause I consider myself just another dude toiling away in the wilderness looking for the Promised Land.
But, if I have inspired anybody to get active for change, that's the reward I'm looking for.
Anf if you inspire other folks to get active for change, good on you too.

Great start! Tally, I haven't forgotten about the cartoon idea. I'm getting my schedule a bit more sane, and one thing I've committed to is putting in 2 hours a week at the local Dem HQ. I'll get up with you about contributing here somehow, too. Thanks so much for doing this - we need it!

• On my To Do List (0 / 0)
is writing a diary about how the netroots and the FDP can work together in 2007 to rebuild and reform County organizations. That's one thing I'll be asking for suggestions on Tuesday night at the Open Thread Diary.
Take care and Thank You for the commitment to action! You're an inspiration.

From O-town. Focus on the positive. I know that it is hard when the rest of the country is ahead of us in turning blue. Glad to know that there are others out there! And thank you for FLAPolitics.com...
