I am sure I don't have to describe to anyone the comments Ann Coulter made about John Edwards today at the ACU clusterf**k. But tonight, I got an email from David Bonoir on behalf of the Edwards campaign that bothers me almost as much.
Dear Gregg,
Did you hear about Anne Coulter's speech this afternoon attacking John? A friend just forwarded me the video and it's one of the worst moments in American politics I've seen.
I can't bring myself to even repeat her comments. Her shameless display of bigotry is so outrageous you actually have to see for yourself to believe it.
This is just a taste of the filth that the right-wing machine is gearing up to throw at us. And now that it's begun, we have a choice: Do we sit back, or do we fight back?
I say we fight. Help us raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week to show every would-be Republican mouthpiece that their bigoted attacks will not intimidate this campaign. I just threw in 100 bucks. Will you join me? Just click here.
Coulter's attack was no accident. It happened on national television at one of the year's biggest conservative conferences. Dick Cheney and most of the Republican candidates were in the audience. She was even introduced by Mitt Romney.
John was singled out for a personal attack because the Republican establishment knows he poses the greatest threat to their power. Since they have nothing real to use against him, Coulter's resorting to the classic right-wing strategy of riling up hate to smear a progressive champion. And the Republican attack dogs will keep playing this despicable trick as long as they think it works.
But this time, you and I can change the game.
If we can raise $100,000 in "Coulter Cash" this week, we can show that bigotry will only backfire on those who use it. John is not the first progressive leader to face this kind of slime, but together, we can make sure he is one of the last.
Tonight, I've put in 100 bucks of "Coulter Cash" to get us started. Can you match me, or chip in whatever you can afford? Just click here:

John Edwards for President
You know what Dave? I did hear, and here is the response I sent to your email:
"Dear Mr. Bonoir,
I would dearly love to tell you how I feel about Ms. Coulter, but civility keeps me from using the "C" word, the "F" word, and the "P" word: i.e. "CRIMINAL," "FRAUD," and "PERJURY."
I have been speaking out on various legal ethics sites for some months now, yet Ms. Coulter, who as far as I am concerned, committed perjury either on her voter registration application in Palm Beach County, Florida, or on her property tax excemption application in the same place, has not been charged with a crime, not has the New York Bar investigated her acts. The Supervisor of Elections in Palm Beach County, Arthur Andersen, has had no success in finding some law enforcement agency willing to file a criminal information or seek an indictment, even though the affected government agencies have written documentation of Ms. Coulter's actions.
Perhaps Ms. Coulter believes it is o.k. to say things about your candidate because she thinks she can get away with them. She may be right; during the 2004 vice presidential debate, I received the diistinct impression that Vice President Cheney could say anything he wanted, and Mr. Edwards was simlply going to let his opponent do it.
Maybe Dick Cheney is too formidable, but if John Edwards thinks he can be President, he has to show he will not be derailed by a gnat; he has to take on the festering pustule of a human being that is Ann Coulter and TAKE HER DOWN. What he should not do is try to turn Ms. Coulter's comments into an opportunity to ask me for money.
DO NOT ASK ME TO DO IT. JOHN EDWARDS HAS TO DO IT HIMSELF. HE MUST TAKE ON ANN COULTER NOW. HE SHOULD CALL UPON THE PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES TO CHARGE AND PROSECUTE ANN COULTER FOR VOTER FRAUD AND PERJURY. HE MUST NOT STOP UNTIL SHE IS CHARGED. DO NOT ASK ME FOR A DIME UNTIL HE HAS DONE IT.
if you expect my support, your candidate must show me that he is strong enough to take on the challenges facing this country. He will not have my support under any circumstances if he does not take on Ann Coulter.
The ball is in your court."
The only reason the Edwards campaign knows about me is because I wrote to it to tell it that John Edwards should not participate in the Faux Nevada debate. At this time we aren't entering into a relationship.
It's late, I'm tired, and at some other time I might not be responding in this way. Tonight however, I'm just that pissed off that I won't be taken for granted, and I won't be satisfied by responses to white-hot attacks.
I'm done. Good Night.
