All of us should be concerned when one large powerful country invades another. As a long-time friend and supporter of the Principality of Liechtenstein I am deeply concerned over Switzerland's hostile and unprovoked aggression toward its smaller, defenseless neighbor.
Early Friday morning the Swiss army launched an unprovoked and illegal invasion of poor defenseless Liechtenstein, its tiny neighbor nestled in the Alps on the border with Austria.
According to the AP:
170 infantry soldiers wandered just over a mile across an unmarked border into the tiny principality early Thursday
Interior ministry spokesman Markus Amman said nobody in Liechtenstein had even noticed the soldiers, who were carrying assault rifles but no ammunition. "It's not like they stormed over here with attack helicopters or something," he said.
I find this highly suspect. The Swiss are a smart people known for their incredibly accurate watches and tasty chocolates. Shouldn't they have KNOWN where they were at all times? Could Switzerland be following the example of the United States in carrying out aggression against a country which doesn't threaten them?
We must all stand against this terrible act of militarism towards the Liechtensteiner people. The Swiss present a benevolent face to the world but they're not just about private banking, chocolates, cuckoo clocks and fabulous watches. We now know they covet the land of their neighbors and they must be stopped now, before Austria or Germany are next in their diabolical plan to threaten the world!
