"How will a non-binding resolution" from Congress make a difference? "According to George Bush, the Constitution is non-binding."
- Jon Stewart, The Daily Show

Ahh...looking back at 2003, I have many fond memories of holding my "NO BLOOD FOR OIL" bumper sticker I received in Taiwan and pushing the send button so that every one of my friends would know know just where I stood on the looming disaster that would be created by George W. Bush. A disaster that would inevitably come if he ignored the progress being made by the U.N. inspectors so that he could fulfill his Oedipus complex (or whatever the hell it is).
I wore black on that day. I truly did. The day that W's rich oil buddies would get richer and the first day that he would call himself "the war preznit". 'Wake the fuck up, America', was clearly on my mind at the time -- when millions of us marched in unity across this planet against the neocons, despite the U.S. Democratic short-circuiting of this effort by enabling these thugs.
Well, the Democrats are doing it again. But this time, they have control of congress. So to that I say...
Wake the fuck up, Pelosi.
The majority of Americans now want the troops brought back within the year.
The majority of Americans now think the Iraq war was a mistake.
The majority of Americans elected a Democratic Congress and Senate for CHANGE.
The majority of Americans have woken the fuck up to the fact that, at the very least, this neocon agenda needs to be stopped...and now.
But today on CNN's Larry King Live (40,000 interviews and I still suck) -- Mr. King actually said something intellectually profound. After Speaker Pelosi confirmed her unwavering, unabashed, unqualified, unequivocal, unending support of the troops -- validating that she indeed still fears Rove and Cheney (even though Cheney's popularity is in the teens) -- Larry King reminded Pelosi that she really has no plan to get the troops home ASAP.
To that, she expressed hope. The same hope that Democrats expressed in 2003. The same hope that the Democrats expressed countless other times -- be it with the illegal eavesdropping, the Valerie Plame incident, the Katrina disaster, whatever. She actually had the gall to give us the same bullshit that...
...I would hope that the president would get the message that the American people sent in the election; that the generals are sending him; that the bipartisan support in the House and Senate have said that they disagree about how he is proceeding in Iraq. We need a new direction.
Get the message?!! You hope that a man whom more than a few people like to nickname, "Chuckle-nuts", gets the message?
The same man that said, "If this were a dictatorship, it would be a lot easier -- so long as I'm the dictator"?
It would seem that Speaker Pelosi does
Not. Get. The. Message.
What message are you going to send Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney, Ms. Pelosi, when the neocons enter their next phase of "American Domination of the Middle East". What message are you going to send the president when Israel is attacked in retaliation of another illegal invasion by this man that cannot be trusted to operate a baseball team, much less a nuclear arsenal. Impeachment will be "on the table" if he decides to do this? Yeah -- riiiiight. The PNAC wet dream is just around the corner and we know what the hell they're capable of already. more than 600,000 dead Iraqis (which you do not mention, for some strange reason); multiple accounts of extreme torture; white phosphorus; war crime on top of war crime. And now, the distinct possibility that hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in another modern sovereign country in the Middle-East may have their flesh melted off their disintegrating bones at the whim of this madman in the White House.
Yeah. We hope he gets the message.
Jeezus!
