So, as everybody knows, Dick Cheney has a blood clot in his leg. But don't worry, it's probably not heart related:
Vice President Dick Cheney was treated Monday for a blood clot in his left leg that independent experts said was probably not related to his history of heart disease but rather the result of his recent around-the-world trip, which included 65 hours of plane travel over 9 days.
My question is this: are we being setup for a Rice VP? Put on your tinfoil hats and join me after the flip.
Rumors that Cheney might resign have been flying for years. More recently, Comedy Central's insider (which has broken news, believe it or not) wrote the following:
The CC Insider/InDecider has just heard more rumors (see earlier posts) from a SECOND reliable source that Dick Cheney will be stepping down as Vice President and will be replaced as Vice President by Condoleezza Rice. And now we're hearing that she would like to be on the ticket as the GOP VP candidate in '08.
I have thought for some time that John Negroponte had no good reason to step down as DNI and essentially demote himself by going to State. But if Rice becomes veep, Negroponte could become SoS no problem.
So the "blood clot" seems awfully convenient. It gives Cheney a health-related reason to step down (what Vice President can avoid air travel?) while all the right people are on deck. Condi is the closest advisor to her husbandthe president after Cheney and Laura. And as a black woman, Condi would be calculated (wrongly) to neutralize the appeal of Obama and/or Clinton.
Who's with me?
