The Attorney General lied before Congress when he denied that political considerations were involved in firing of eight U.S Attorneys. All of the Prosecutors were honest and well regarded, and most of them were fired for pursuing investigations against Republicans, or hesitating to pursue or accelerate investigations against Democrats. Many were falsely slurred with accusations of incompetence, although they had excellent performance reviews. Some were threatened that they should not testify before Congress.
I will be brief. Greg Pasast has pointed out the history of the replacement for the U.S. Attorney in Eastern Arkansas. Not only is he a Karl Rove associate, but he is an architect of a scheme for disenfranchising probable Democratic voters, including Blacks serving in Iraq, read it.
We need to impeach all of them, but I don’t think Torture Boy has the stones to face a Senate trial. He will resign, because evidence, such that he advised the President that he need not obey the Geneva Convention, would get him disbarred if he offered that quality of advise to a private client.
There is no question the case can be made. Taking down the King is hard. What we are talking about in the case of Gonzalez, is taking down a Court Jester.
