I think Krugman has an excellent point in today's op-ed. The scandal with USA gate is the phone calls that have not been reported, and the US Attorneys who are still at work. I think that many local news outlets will smell a great story here, something that might break nationally. SO, I've been contacting my local news people all morning. an they seem VERY enthusiastic to do some follow-up. I would urge you to do the same. Jump below to read a quick letter and feel free to use it yourself.
In light of the growing scandal over the firing of federal prosecutors it has become evident that the partisan-politicization of the Office of US Attorneys was a main thrust of the current administration’s efforts to create a permanent Republican hegemony – regardless of any ethical or legal impediment. In congressional testimony on Tuesday, we learned that members of Congress called prosecutors to pressure them on politically charged cases in an effort to influence these cases. These cynical actions are at best highly unethical and at worst illegal.
Beyond this sad display of disregard for the American people, the much bigger and more frightening scandal involves the prosecutors who are still in office. It is imperative that INSERT LOCAL NEWS HERE look into the United States Attorney's Office of INSERT LOCALITY HERE. The people of INSERT LOCALITY HERE need to be assured that federal prosecutors for their district have conducted their work in a non-partisan manner and have not been contacted by any members of congress or the administration in an effort to influence their work. I respectfully request that the INSERT LOCAL NEWS HERE look into these grave matters and give the United States Attorney's Office of INSERT LOCALITY HERE an opportunity to go on the record as being untainted by the scandal or the explain their actions if they are a part of it.
I thank your for you work for the people of North Carolina.

Okay, I used my real name in my letter. This is kind of thing a local news place loves, it's just a quick interview to put someone on the record - if they are even the least bit evasive, then there's a story. Plain and simple (and cheap and quick) just how local news outlets like it. Let's see if we can't shake the trees a little and see what falls out.
