The Iraq supplemental has cleared the appropriations committee with all Democrats save one -- Barbara Lee of California -- voting in favor.
Earlier today, you saw Republican troop hater Jerry Lewis seek to strip provisions from the bill that would permit the president to continue his policy of sending wounded, under-trained and under-rested soldiers back into his war to fight in the place of College Republicans who, after all, have exams coming up, and must be on hand in the States to track their March Madness bracket picks.
What you didn't see (yet) was the proposal of sore loser and jackass prankster C.W. (Bill) Young, who in a move designed to highlight the low regard in which he holds the lives of soldiers, decided to play a little game by offering an amendment even he didn't support: a total and immediate withdrawal.
Ha ha! Joke's on you, troops! Instead of seriously considering your fate and working hard to protect you from being killed by your Commander in Chief's policy of sending you back to the front without training, rest or armor, Bill Young thought it would be funny to waste everyone's time!
Tee hee! Hope none of you hit a roadside bomb during all the hilarity!
"I'm not going to vote for it," said Young, "but let's find out where Congress really stands." The unanimous vote against Young's little prank can be interpreted in one of two ways: 1) either everyone on the committee thinks an immediate withdrawal won't pass the House, or; 2) everyone on the committee thinks Bill Young is an asshole.
I'm going with #2.
