The document dump in the firing of eight US Attorneys has lanced a boil  that we know as the DoJ, which has infected this nation with lawlessness and disdain for rules by committing illegal acts that inconveniently get in the way their agenda to further their power.

GOP money laundering through shell corporations is fairly well documented by bloggers and the blogosphere. But what should be an earth shattering story of fraud, corruption, and questionable meetings and poker parties at the Watergate Hotel, has received absolutely no coverage in the Main Stream Media.

This scandal was known since Dec of 2005 and while most of the shell corporations took down their websites, the records showing campaign contributions are still there, linking those involved with the corporations they created. Sherlock Google on DailyKOS along with Joseph Cannon from Cannonfire had the scoop back then. I do a fair summary of the scandal on Conyersblog. (See comment #10)

There was so much open and freely available information from an Internet search at the time, I threw in a scoop of my own, which I have updated below. From the same link as above, (See comment #15)

I am fairly confident there are still of pockets information out there on the Internet waiting to be gleaned that will help flush out how all this ties together. All it needs is just a little time and patience doing the research, combining suspected corporations with names which can be traced through the public campaign contribution records. This in turn should lead to more scumbag Representatives coming under fire for questionable campaign contributions like REP Mike Ferguson (R-NJ) in my example above.

Stolen taxpayer monies to fund Republican candidates through DoD appropriations was what US Attorney Carol Lam was investigating. Daniel Hopsicker gave a conservative estimate of $700 million dollars in laundered campaign monies. This investigation leads us from defrauding the taxpayers right to election fraud, the aluminum tubes scandal, the CIA, and Watergate poker nights with Dusty Foggo and Porter Goss.

What I find amazing is that the MSM still has not covered this story. I emailed several reporters with links to the information, but it has yet to surface in the media. Perhaps in order to get the proper news coverage this story truly deserves, questioning Carol Lam in front of the House Judiciary Committee about her latest case in order to gain a context for why it is believed that these firings were partisan and why they might constitute an obstruction of justice, will go a long way in making this news story a more public issue.

After inserting the lance into the DoJ over the firing of US Attorneys, by applying direct pressure on Carol Lam's firing the netroots movement just might rupture this boil that has plagued our nation and spill purulent GOP exudate all over the front pages. If this does happen, no one can have a stronger claim to victory and restoring justice then the netroots community for uncovering and pursuing this scandal that spiders out in all directions.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

    I agree, agree, agree.

Lots of us know that Lam was the officiating attorney for a host of GOP dirty tricks, from bribery and embezzlement to government fraud and racketeering.

Carol Lam should answer REAL questions. Also, Darrel Issa, the San Diego area rep who lobbied incessantly for her dismissal.

Duke Cunningham was just the beginning. That's why Carol Lam was axed.

This is a huge obstruction of justice case.

resigns as head of the CIA after 13 months.  No explanation other than the standard fare, no further questions from the MSM.  Dusty Foggo (#3 at CIA), Brent Wilkes (indicted contractor and friend of Foggo), Hookergate, fail to gain traction in the press.
I have a feeling Mr. Goss will be heard from again, whether he likes it or not.

  •  Geez,the Katz family are holding $7 BILLION !!!! (6+ / 0-)

worth of student loans?  Why didn't you tell us that!  As the gatekeeper said in the Wizard of Oz, "That's a horse of a different color."

With that much loot at stake, of course they're buttering Lewis' bread.

Thought those student loans were held by real banks.  Now, we discover that some guy and his brother barely out of grad school are reaping the whirlwind?  What are they doing with all that loot, anyway?

What other companies do the Katz Brothers and their wives own?

Why is a Dusty Foggo playing poker with Ryan?

    Read pp. 34-42 here.

It's all about the underestimation of risk associated with the privatized, deregulated student loan industry, and the fortunes that the Katz family and others have made cashing in on the huge debt that middle-class families must now assume to send their kids to increasingly overpriced universities.

It's a vicious circle of debt and price rise that the Katzs and their ilk have fueled -  along with Sallie Mae -- it's threatens to cause the US economy to implode.

    cary katz

    • this from Duke Cunningham's wikipedia entry:

"He was a member of the Appropriations and Intelligence committees, and chaired the House Intelligence Subcommittee on Human Intelligence Analysis and Counterintelligence during the 109th Congress. He was considered a leading Republican expert on national security issues. He was also a champion of education, using his position on the Appropriations Education Subcommittee to steer federal dollars to schools in San Diego."

I wonder if his position on the education subcommittee enabled him to have a role in student financing? I was looking through the campaign contribution records, and i stumbled across a guy called Cary Katz throwing a heap of money at repuglicans, and i noticed that he was from Poway, and wondered whether he might be involved with the poway mafia - wilkes et al.

It turns out that Cary has a company in the student loan business:

College Loan Corporation, headquartered in San Diego, is the nation’s seventh largest student loan provider, owning and managing more than $8 billion in student loan assets. The Company has helped more than 500,000 students and families pay for college. More than 850 colleges and universities have designated College Loan Corporation as a preferred lender...
Founded in 1999, College Loan Corporation has grown to more than 500 employees. (link

    He's 35 year old.

Cary's first donations were in April 1997 (when he was 26, and working in another student loan company) - $2000 each to Menendez, Robert (D-NJ) and Deutsch, Peter (D-FL). In 2000, he gave $500 to independent Jeffords in VT in 2000, and since then he has caught the donating bug - $230,000 to a bunch of the usual repuglican hacks (to put that amount in persepctive, you can become a famed Bush Ranger for raising $100k of other people's money)

    Here's a partial list:

    $55000 to the NRCC
$25000 Freedom Project - John Boehner (R-Ohio), (Chairman, Committee on Education and Workforce, possible DeLay successor. The Freedom Project, has raised $31k from Abramoff's tribal clients.)
    $20000 American Prosperity - Duke Cunningham (R-Criminal)
$16000 Milead Fund - Peter Hoekstra (R-Mich) , (Chair, Select Committee on Intelligence)
$15000 Americans for a Republican Majority - Tom Delay
$10000 Together for Our Majority - Tom Reynolds. (R-NY), (Chair, NRCC. )
$10000 Impact America - Sen Gordon Smith, (R-OR)
    $10000 21st Century PAC - Howard P. "Buck" McKeon (R-CA)
    $8000 Mike Ferguson (R-NJ)
    $7500 Majority Initiative-Keep Electing Repubs - Mike Rogers (R-Mich)
$3500 Carolina Majority PAC - Joe Wilson, (R-S.C.)
    and a few others...

Incidentally, there was a $25k donation to the NRCC on june 30, 05 - the same date that our friend ziyad abduljawad did the same thing. Given that ziyad's donation was just 3 weeks after the Duke story broke, i wonder whether ziyad's donation may have been 'earmarked' (laura and i have speculated about this process here), and if so, by whom, and for what. It was cary katz's similar transaction that piqued my interest - he had already donated $5k to the NRCC in April, making him one of the top NRCC donators in this cycle.

I don't know anything about the student loan industry - is it tightly controlled? any scope for corruption and/or 'favours' ? or is Cary just a movementarian? did they buy a clause in the bankruptcy legislation? Or perhaps they purchased this: "current legislation will raise the interest rate on these loans significantly, to 8.5% as of July 1, 2006."

it's not every day that a company grows to $8bn in assets in a few years.

Also interesting, there's a guy, Ryan Katz, who is involved in a similar business, is similarly successful, who gave big bucks to all the same congresscritters, and who lives just up the road from Cary. (I can't find a familial, or any other, connection.) I've written a separate post on Ryan, here.

And there's more good stuff that follows.  Amazing.

    •  I see (0+ / 0-)

that Lukery had noticed and similiarly commented on the same things I did.

Could the actually cash flow and unbelievable growth be attributed to laundering illegal funds disguising as student loans.
