I was watching the Chris Matthews show this morning because I like the political back and forth between Matthews and his guests, except when Matthews constantly interrupts someone. Anyhow, the first subject was the fact that Hillary Clinton is losing some ground in the polls to Barack Obama.
What proceeded next was a 13 minute rant on Matthews' part denegrating Hillary and Bill, and gushing lavish praise on Obama. He said Hillary is mad because Obama is so close in the polls, Bill comes off like a whiner when he sees Obama getting a break on his war votes, while in Bill's opinion, there's very little difference between the two.
Then the you tube ad came on, and that gave Matthews more bashing time. Intimating this is how the public in general feels about Hillary. Then Matthews showed a picture of Hillary asking only one question to Al Gore. He made it seem that Hillary didn't even want to acknowledge Gore was even in the room, and then saying that Hillary looked tired and worn out.
Then he concluded, asking the four guests if Hillary would hold on to her lead, or lose it by Memorial day.
Over the years, Matthews has made it quite clear he has no love for the Clintons. His total obsession with seeing both Bill and Hillary go down, is not new. His actions during the Clinton impeachment hearings is there for all to see.
I don't see how Hillary catches a break from the press. You know Fox news is going to slime her every chance they get. Joe Scarborough, Tucker Carlson and Matthews won't give her an even break. Conservatives on the radio are already roasting her for various things, and I highly doubt that even CNN will be even handed at covering her.
I know that Hillary is the front runner, and she deserves he fair share of scruntiny, but I don't think the coverage is fair. Rudy Giuliani is the leader of the Republicans, but I've hardly heard a negative story about him. Even the story about his wife in recent days, has been muted.
Now, I'm not the biggest Hillary fan. In fact, I'm supporting John Edwards for president, but I also want to be fair to Hillary. Does she deserve criticism for some of the things she's done? Certainly, but how in the world does she get a fair shake when I dare say most of the media, including Chris Matthews, hate her?
