I am watching C-Span2 right now, and the Cochran Amendment to eliminate the withdrawal timetable that is currently in the Iraq supplemental funding bill was defeated 50-48. Two Republicans voted with 48 Democrats (Hagel and Smith). One Democrat (Pryor) and One Independent (Lieberman) voted with the GOP.
This is a huge interim victory for Harry Reid. Reid will bring the entire supplemental for a floor vote some time in the near future. If that passes (probably by the same narrow margin) then both Houses of Congress will be on record with legislation to fundamentally alter the Iraq policy and push for a withdrawal of troops.
All you Arkansan Kossacks need to start bombarding Senator Pryor with correspondence. There is absolutely no reason for him to weasel out of voting for this bill.
