Well, well Mr Swiftboat Sam. You should have thought about the chances of a newly elected Democratic Congress having to confirm you before whipping out your wallet for the smearmongering SwiftBoat Liars in exchange for a nice fat ambassadorial cronie appointment. Serves you right.
President Bush on Wednesday withdrew the ambassadorial nomination of businessman Sam Fox after Democrats denounced Fox for giving money to a controversial conservative group that undermined Sen. John Kerry's 2004 presidential campaign.
Kerry, D-Mass., had criticized Fox because of a $50,000 contribution that Fox made in 2004 to the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth.
Meanwhile, the White House blubbers...
White House spokeswoman Dana Perino said Bush believes Fox is qualified to serve as ambassador but withdrew the nomination "because of politics."
"Some members of the Senate would have voted against his nomination, which would have prevented him for serving in this important position," Perino said. "So we are disappointed that they made their decision based on partisan politics instead of his leadership abilities."
Hmmm...Dana? Here, you can use my hanky. I'm so sorry your partisan cronie would have suffered from partisan politics. Aww. Got a question for you. Can you name one other qualified candidate with leadership abilities that was the victim of partisan politics? At least those Senators didn't have to make shit up and lie about Fox's service. You hypocrite. Your little Bush Ranger did his partisan duty by funding outright lies and the Whitehouse hoped to give him a partisan appointment for it, and you cry he was regected by partisanship? How pathetic is that? You know what? Tough crap. It must have taken some hubris to nominate him in the first place. Paybacks are a bitch aren't they?
