The House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform announced today that they will begin investigating whether there have been misleading statements surrounding the Army's handling of the Patrick Tillman case. They will hold a hearing on April 24th.
According to this AP article in the Santa Cruz Sentinel, they have been quietly investigating the whole Tillman fiasco since the Pentagon announced their findings on the handling of the friendly fire incident that killed Tillman in Afghanistan.
Now, they have also decided to expand the investigation to investigate the alleged rescue of Jessica Lynch.
There is so much work to do and so much ingnored malfeasance and corruption that one barely knows where to start. However, I think Chairman Waxman has the right idea.
The mis-administration built the war on lies and they continued to lie to perpetuate their false claims and bogus propoganda to keep us all cheerleading on the sidelines.
The shame is that Tillman's family was tragically misled and lied to to the point that they don't know what to believe and Jessica Lynch was dragged into a spotlight that she knew was wrong.
In fact their have been five investigations by the military into Tillman's death and every one has been as unsatisfactory as the next accoring to Rep. Mike Honda:
"After successive failed Department of Defense and Army inquiries, only a comprehensive, unrelenting congressional investigation can do justice to Pat's memory, and restore service members' confidence in their chain of command," said Rep. Mike Honda, a Democrat who represents the Tillman family's San Jose district. "I will not rest until the unvarnished truth - no matter where it leads - is brought to light."
As they open these fetid cans of garbage and work their way through the sludge, they will begin to create more investigations as one lie builds upon another.
Additionally, the article notes that the House Armed Services Committee is also looking into Tillman hearings.
