DC's own Donna Brazile sent a great e-mail message today under the DNC's banner about the voting rights march that is taking place on Monday. I know I speak for everyone in DC when I thank her for her activism on this issue. I've pasted her message below (after the jump) for everyone to read.
If you are in DC, please make sure you make plans to march with us on Monday! More information can be found at http://www.votingrightsmarch.org
See you Monday,
Mike Panetta
U.S. "Shadow" Representative (D-DC)

THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Dear Mike,
While the Republicans are championing democracy around the globe, they fail to take a stand here in the nation's capital. The citizens of the District of Columbia were moments away from a historic vote that would finally grant them a vote in Congress.
But, threatened by this landmark expansion of democracy at home, the Republicans made a last ditch effort to kill the bill by attaching a measure that would overturn the District of Columbia's gun control laws.
Come stand against this outrageous denial of our most fundamental American right: http://www.dcdsc.org/
On Monday, April 16th beginning at 2:30pm at Freedom Plaza, District citizens will gather to send Congress and the President the message that we cannot advocate for rights abroad that we deny at home. We will then march to the Capitol and rally at the Reflecting Pool at 4:00pm.
The Democratic National Committee, District of Columbia's Democratic Party, DC Vote and a host of other organizations are working to bring democracy home. Come and invite your friends to join Mayor Adrian Fenty, Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton, Council Chair Vincent Gray, and many others.
RSVP today and be part of the movement that will finally give the District of Columbia a vote in Congress.
You can help promote this march in your neighborhood by having your neighbors and friends sign onto http://www.votingrightsmarch.org/....
Not able to march? Come to the rally at the Capitol Reflecting Pool on Monday, April 16th at 4:00pm!
Sincerely,
Donna Brazile
Chair, Voting Rights Institute
