"We need to be patriotic for something other than war!" ~ John Edwards
Edwards' call to stand up to end the war in Iraq, implement Universal Health Care, end poverty, strengthen Unions & end global warming, is a serious call to action. It's a call to take action now and "not wait until election day."
Edwards is calling for action and leading the way to bring about bold transformational change, backed by substantial plans. In fact, Edwards is the only candidate who has offered plans on Universal Health Care, ending our dependence on foreign oil and eliminating poverty, as he talked about at an event I recently vlogged in Raleigh, where Edwards definitely won the "bar fight."

"Are we going to make America the country of the 21st century?"
As Edwards said at the event in Raleigh, movements of the "greatest generation" didn't start in DC, they started on college campuses and with the people; Edwards is already mobilizing thousands of supporters, in every state, through his grassroots service organization, OneCorps. Across the country, Edwards supporters are engaging in community service projects and participating in National Action Days.
As part of April's National Global Warming Action Month, Edwards spoke at a Step it Rally in Ft. Myers, Florida:
The message Edwards had for residents of Southwest Florida drew applause as he said he favored ending the Iraq war, bringing universal health care to the country and lowering carbon emissions by 80 percent by 2050.
"We are an offender and not a good example to the rest of the world (on carbon emissions)," Edwards said. "We must make America the manufacturer of the most fuel-efficient cars on the planet."

On Edwards' "Saturday E-Cast, he talks about climate change and a new energy economy. He describes Step It Up events happening this weekend around the country. Edwards also introduces the campaign's new ReduceYourCarbon.com Web site."

OneCorps supporters around the country also attended Step it Up rallies, including my OneCorps chapter where we talked with people about Edwards' plan to end global warming, which has been applauded by the League of Conservation Voters, the fact he is the only candidate running a carbon neutral campaign, as well as where he stands on other issues.
