Americans gathered together Saturday to spell out one big message to congress in over 1400 actions coast to coast. The message we all spelled out to congress began with each of us taking the one small first
We gathered together in goofy groups, like this intervention at a California Hummer dealership by mainstreet moms...
and in serious congressional interventions, like this determined line of petition signers on the East Coast.
We all gathered yesterday in the snowy peaks of Alaska to let congress know what real terror is.
And we were all there yesterday with you high in the desert mountains to remove invasive species taking over new territories with climate change.
We all hiked with you to the top of Breakneck Ridge to let our voice be heard.
And we all paraded with you in the deeps below sealevel to let our voice be heard.
From the East Coast
To the West Coast.
We all marched through the city with our church group.
And we all marched through smog with our hiker group.
We all gathered from sea...
...to shining sea.
We marked the new coast of a 500 year old city dear to our hearts.
And we marked the new coast of volcanic Hawaii that is also very dear to us.
We marched in the Red states.
We marched in the Blue states.
We were all with our interested parties who hope that we can change.
And we all had the richness of experience with the massive changes of the last half century that tells us that of course we can change!
We were there with you who love to ski.
And we were there with you who lovemaple syrup
We came to tell you we have wind if you need some in South Dakota
And we came to tell you we know people want zero emission cars already - why don't you add your signature if you do too.
But we didn't drive to Washington to lobby you with our professional lobbyists.
Because we are more responsible than that. This was a carbon neutral march.
So while you may not have seen us all together marching on Washington, you'll be seeing us all together in November 2008.
Because, as even our kids can tell you, this is not rocket science.
Whether we already have children who are worth far more to us than any amount of money Exxon could shower on us to pretend this isn't happening to us,
or whether we will one day have children worth far more to us than any amount of money Exxon could shower on us to pretend this isn't happening to us.
Wherever we are marching we are marching on Washington.
And we vote.
Maybe you can't hear us yet. But you will.
Because if by 2008, we still don't have the government that will cut and run from certain doom, well, we will get us a one that can.
Because we don't have to stay this course either.
We are a nation of revolutionaries.
And we can change the course of human history. Lets all stick together and do it.
