A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.
This county was born by rebellion from a tyrannical government. Recommended read on the second amendment is by Joyce Lee Malcolm that traces the history of the right to selfdefense. The second amendment, what a noble and wise idea that was thought of in uncertain and dangerous times when liberty and freedom were absent. Fast forward today in the same county where the people have less say in the act and behavior of their government, federal and local. A government that supports torture, the elimination of Harbeus corpious, rights guaranteed by the Bill of rights, US Constitution and Geneva convention all be damned.
A country that has a court appointed president saying everything would be alot easier if he was a dictator. Not to mention voter fraud. A administration that has held a US citizen indefinately for years with out clearly stating the reasons and violating the right to a speedy trial. A government that kidnaps people and sends them to other nations for interagation. A government that says privacy isn't a constitutional right. When the government and those elected or selected to represent us, we the people, just stand by and don't put up a fight for the people, our rights, but are indirectly and directly complainte in the creation and rise of the police state. Remember the Patriot act was supposed only to be used against terrorists and our privacy wasn't supposed to violated since the government can do no wrong. Silly me, i must have been a conspiracy kook not to trust my government.
When i read yesterday about the tragic events that took place at Virginia Tech, i knew that the fight and right to defend my self, would get alot harder. Whenever something like this takes place, the blame is always directed at law binding citizens like me. Not gang bangers or criminals. These are sometimes the same people that blame music, movies, or videogames for making people go out and committ horrible acts. As i watched the news yesterday, i easily noticed the theme of the reporting was geared towards asking the question "why don't we ban all guns".
This morning as i was browsing the internets over at Huffpo, i read Jane Smiley article about guns.
She begins by saying she knows no one that is a hunter or has a gun. So we are off to a not so informed arguement, by some one that i am guessing likes diversity and has no problems with opposing opinions since she is a liberal, progressive, democrat, what ever label you prefer. She goes on to say:
Right up front I will say that I am opposed to casual gun ownership.
I didn't know that exercising my second amendment right was and is just being casual. Maybe its casual like when i decide to use the first amendment? Who knows maybe i need to join and be part of the white house press during a lead up to a war underfasle pretense to get a good understanding. Is it casual when females have a conceal and carry license with their pistol in their hand bang? I am sure they don't always get sexually assaulted or attacked, but just in case things go bad. When was the last time you heard in the media about an attacker stopped because a female had a handgun. You never hear stories like that. You only hear criminals who don't obey the law, who go out and take the lives of toddlers and children.
What really sets me off is when she says:
What I would like is for the gun-toting right wing to admit that there is a price we pay, that senseless accidental deaths and traumas are a national cost and that it's not so clear that it's worth it, but hey, we pay it anyway because so many guns are in the hands of so many people that there would never be any getting rid of them. I would like the right wing to admit that guns are not "good" and that the right to bear arms is not an absolute virtue and that the deaths in the US caused by guns are at least as problematic, philosophically, as abortion. But I'm not holding my breath.
First of all it is not just "right wingers" that support the right to bear arms. There many guntoting liberals and democrats , just take a look at the new house and senate members who recently got elected, most of them, support the second amendment. Good site for fellow guntoting kossacks over here.
Her arguement is mostly, in my view emotional and nothing but a knee jerk reaction by someone that, going out on a limb here: Never held or fired a gun. Knows no gun legal owners and never been in a environment that allowed her to see upfront interaction between her and people who support the rights to bear arms. Not surprised by someone like her living in her current environment. Of course there will be accidental deaths of children that have traces to a gun, but less children die from guns, compared to other things. The loss of a chid is a sad and tragic event, but staticsally, less children die from gun related events. More children die from car accidents or drowning in swimming pools for example. Should we ban children from using swimming pools and being driven in cars? What i am saying there isn't as much emotional outrage over children dying from drowning or choking from people like Smiley. Why no outage over the children that are killed by drunk drivers or parents that won't wear seat belts. Enough with this selected outrage, that is some what caused by the media with over reporting of the story.
Now we have governments from around the world calling for gun buns. If this government and administration comes to take my guns away after all the violations and abuse they have done to the rule of law, i am not going quitely. A tryannical, abusive, and corrupt government won't come to help you. Katrina ring a bell? For all of you who like gun control and say that it only affects criminals just look at what happen when disaster strikes. The National Guard confiscated guns in New Orleans from Legal gun owners, not the thugs or criminals. Thats legal owners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This never got much play in the media. I wonder why? This report by ABC news should change some views over here..
There was no rule of law, people were looting because, lack of resources such as food and clean water. Women were being sexually assaulted. This went on for days months. Just take a look at the video below. The police even't didn't try to bring food and water. The regular army was there too with the national guard. The police state is growing everywhere.
I am positive that taking peoples guns away who had the legal right really didn't help the criminals. Like we all know what thugs would dare enter a house that they know doesn't have a gun. Silly me.
Another fact to point out is that the VTech campus was a "gun free school". The Roanoke times reported how students and professors were not allowed to exercise their constitutional rights. Link is here. The article said:
A bill that would have given college students and employees the right to carry handguns on campus died with nary a shot being fired in the General Assembly......
Most universities in Virginia require students and employees, other than police, to check their guns with police or campus security upon entering campus. The legislation was designed to prohibit public universities from making "rules or regulations limiting or abridging the ability of a student who possesses a valid concealed handgun permit ... from lawfully carrying a concealed handgun."
The legislation allowed for exceptions for participants in athletic events, storage of guns in residence halls and military training programs.
Last spring a Virginia Tech student was disciplined for bringing a handgun to class, despite having a concealed handgun permit. Some gun owners questioned the university's authority, while the Virginia Association of Chiefs of Police came out against the presence of guns on campus.
This was victim disarmorment. What would have happened if students were allowed to legally arm themselves on campus? I know that might frighten those who have neved held a gun or taken any safety courses. Would have the death toll been lower? Would a person who is outnumbered go on for hours killing innocent people due to the fact he knows he is the only one that has a gun? After all this was a gun free zone, students couldn't defend themselves. Why should campuses fellow this gun disarmorment model? This was a nationally known campus, with enough police and resources. One might ask where were the police to protect the innocent? Aren't the police supposed to protect us from criminals who illegally get guns and us law binding citizens have to settle for more restrictions on defending ourselves. Gun control advocates can't seem to accept that police are a reactionary force. They mostly investigate and arrest individuals or groups after the crime has taken place.
This idea that gun buns would stop criminals holds no water just like the idea that banning pot will decrease the drug trade. Prohibition was a success with that logic. Gun control advocates or gun grabbes should stop trying to shootdown the second amendment. Criminals are criminals, you only make things harder for law following citizens.

I am not saying every citizen has a right to have a F-16, RPG, or access to a tank. All this entry is saying going the route with gun control will only increase the black market trade and infringe on the rights of legal gun owners. Another thing i am amazed at the people who right way disagree with me and call me a troll. Didn't know that different points of views we considered to be "right wing". Not every one who posts here subscribes to 100% of what progressives, liberals, or demeocrats stand for. My political views are a mix of a libertarian and a liberal. I would consider myself to be centered to the left. I oppose the intrusion of the federal government in my personal life. Not a big fan of being told what to do and how to live my life by politicians in dc.
Never surrender, counter attack those who would rather be slaves than have a right to defend themselves for freedom and liberty.
